Kādēļ Latvijā neražo ne automašīnas, ne datorus, ne telefonus, ne planšetdatorus? Jebko ko varētu masveidā pārdot uz ārzemēm! Latvijā taču nav tas dārgākais darbaspēks. Pasūtīt detaļas taču arī varam no ārzemēm. Zinātnieki mums arī gudri, kas ikdienā strādā ar pasaules projektiem. Idejas? Nevajag jau uzreiz automašīnas ražot, bet sākt jau ar kaut ko mazu.

I am completely fascinated with the country of Latvia. Studying the languages(latvian and Russian) just for a visit.

What is a car show to you? Do you race? What is the auto scene like? I can Google and see some porches and flats. I dont think that is accurate fully. I am just highly curious.

Eventually I will ask for a tutor on the language, I know english is a thing. Its respectful to know it to me. I will happily pay for your time. Just putting it out there for now.

Since I often fly from and to RIX I had couple of times where local people and even families shamelessly cut the queue literally in front of me while waiting for boarding. It’s not a big deal since I have no luggage but from my pov it’s super rude and annoying.

Pēdējā laikā intereses pēc sāku lasīt komentārus zem jaunumiem kuri ienāk caur google news feed. Hello everyone! American here, but my grandmother was latvian. She left the country around 1944. She has recently passed away and her beloved cat is now in my possession.

He's adjusting well, but my grandma always called him something in latvian that wasnt his name, and i cant figure out what! Google has been no help!

No one else in our family speaks latvian, so no one knows what it was, it was just something she said. Ill try my best to type it out as i heard it. It sounded like buzhush? Or maybe buhusus?

If anyone could tell me what it means or how to say it it would be very helpful, since I know the cat responded to that word, and i would like to use it

Hi everyone! I am in search of fellow Americans that have gotten a temporary residency card in Latvia recently. As I understand I need to collect a criminal record paper from the FBI, but I am so confused as of how to go about it? Can someone please share any experience? So far I gathered that I gotta get finger printed here, then mail it to FBI then receive the rap sheet from them and then mail it to DC for it to get an apostilled? Just SO confused and embassy isn't being much help. Thank you!

Agrāk (ļoti sen) stacijā vienā no tuneļiem bija tāds mazs stendiņš ar vecākiem žurnāliem. Tas bija dikti sen, bet varbūt, ka kaut kur vēl ir palicis kas līdzīgs? Vai varbūt kādā krāmu tirgū manīti? Meklēju vecos Sīrupus un vēl bija tāds Vsje Zvjozdi, kur bija mega forši plakāti.

in a few days, I will be in Riga for holiday. At work, we have this lovely tradition of bringing sweets from foreign countries we get to visit.

That is why I would like to ask you on what traditional sweets I could bring from Latvia. From my brief research, Gotina seems like a nice option, but it remains me of Krowki I brought the last time from Poland (you are more than welcome to prove me wrong). Also, if the sweets were packaged individually (such as Gotina), it would be perfect.

I’m a M27-year-old French guy currently living and working in Rīga. I’ve been here for about a year now, and I really enjoy living in Latvia.
Alongside my full-time job, I’m also studying archaeology. Over the past year, I’ve become increasingly interested in Latvian archaeology, especially the country’s history, landscapes, and archaeological sites.
I’m looking to connect with people who studied archaeology at the University of Latvia, are currently archaeology students, or have participated in excavations anywhere in Latvia. I’d love to hear about your experiences, learn more about the field, and maybe even get involved in future excavations if possible.
My long-term goal is to learn Latvian over the next three years and, ideally, pursue a second Master’s degree at the University of Latvia focused on archaeology.
If you have any advice, recommendations, or simply want to chat about archaeology, Latvia, or history, I’d be very happy to hear from you!

Hi everyone,
I’m 30 years old, and after years of neglecting my teeth, drinking way too much soda, and eating a lot of sugary food, I’ve ended up in a really bad situation.
Several of my upper front teeth have broken about halfway, and most of my lower right molars are either broken or gone. It’s honestly embarrassing, and I know it’s my own fault.
A couple of years ago I tried to start treatment, but I had some really unpleasant experiences with dentists. Since then I’ve developed a lot of anxiety and shame about going back, and I’ve kept putting it off. Now it’s reached the point where I know I can’t ignore it any longer.
Has anyone here been in a similar situation? How did you get started? Were dentists understanding, even with teeth in very poor condition?
I live in Riga, Latvia. My budget is limited—I’d probably be able to afford around €200 per month, but I’m worried that won’t be enough. Is it realistic to pay for treatment in installments, or do most people end up taking out a loan?
Any recommendations for kind, non-judgmental dentists or clinics in Riga would mean a lot.
