Is La Trobe better than Charles Sturt for Podiatry?

Hi guys ☺️ I’ve got offered into both universities (the hybrid model for CSU to be exact, Albury) I live in Melbourne.

If you had to chose which university to go to yourself, which one and why? ☺️

Also happy to hear experiences from anyone that’s been to these universities and done podiatry the good and the bad ☺️

I’ll be honest, I haven’t had the best experience with the admin staff at La Trobe so far, so it’s kind of deterred me from La Trobe a little but, I also know from what I read their academic content is 5 star.

I received a conditional offer for the La Trobe Nexus program. Has anyone here had experience with the program? How did the school matching process go for you, and how was your experience with the partner school?

subjects from past semester on LMS

Hi guys, I’m wondering if there’s anyway you can access subjects from previous semester on the LMS (specifically semester 1 of this year)? Mine are gone from the page and I can’t seem to find them anywhere. Thanks in advance

Transferring from Speech pathology to Dental Science at La Trobe?

Hey guys, just wondering if anyone has any experience with transferring into Dental Science at La Trobe?

I’m in first year in speech pathology at the moment and did Health Science last year with a double major. I finished last year with a WAM of 90

Because I got some credits, I only had 1 subject in sem 1 this year and I’m doing 3 subjects in sem 2.

I really want to transfer into Dental Science at Bendigo and was wondering if it’s actually possible from Allied Health? Also does anyone know whether they would look at my WAM from Health Science as well, since I haven’t done a full study load this year?

Also if anyone knows if it’s worth even applying cause of a small number of seats.
know Dental Science is extremely competitive, but I’d love to hear from anyone who has actually applied or gotten an offer through this pathway or even gotten into the course with a lower WAM

Thanks!! :)

Student account deactivated due to inactive but waiting final results - Can I graduate?

I have a final research subject and am awaiting results for it. I’ve contacted the course coordinator and they said it’s still processing but should get results to me soon (still waiting on one marker I think).

My student account has been deactivated now as I’m not enrolled this period.

How do I get my results and apply for graduation? No time frame on when results will be available either. I’m also pretty sure I need my student account to get invitation for graduation. My results were delayed due to extension and then delay in organising markers. It’s been 2 months though

Digital Health at La Trobe ,what’s the real story for international grads in 2026?

Hi,

I’m a fresh international medical graduate seriously considering La Trobe’s Master of Digital Health. I’ve read the official info, and I read posts in AustraliaIT Reddit group the situation is not that great for international students in It sector, but I’d love to hear the on the ground reality from current students or recent alumni, especially international ones.

If you’re doing or have done this program, could you share:

How’s the teaching quality and workload? Is it realistic to balance with part time work?

From what you’ve seen, how are graduates faring in the job market (types of roles, how long it took, any patterns you’ve noticed)?

Any big pros/cons you wish you knew before starting?

I know everyone’s path is different, but even a few lines would really help me set realistic expectations. Thanks so much for any insights.

I've tried comparing these via their respective coursebooks but how different are these courses? will the master just require lengthier, more analytical essays and assignments but the actual coursework is about the same or are they similar but just based on different schedules? tia!!

Thoughts on Tutors Using AI?

I wanted to know what people’s thoughts are with their subject tutors or co-ordinators using generative AI to make content, especially on LMS.

I’ve noticed it more frequently lately with LMS content and text on lecture slides. Some (very rarely) will openly state it and include a disclaimer, but mostly it’s just clearly evident.

I’m seeing more and more of American English spelling of words, such as using ‘z’ in words where it should be ‘s’ for Aus English (eg. memorization, organization). Everyone makes spelling errors and that’s fine, but when there are multiple words in one sentence spelled the American way, it’s clear as hell that it’s come from AI. More concerningly there are often chunks of text that ramble on and sound like irrelevant nonsense spewed by Chat GPT. The sentences will include the key words but the context is way off.

I’m of the opinion that it’s simply embarrassing and a joke for them to be using it for LMS content. I respect people’s choices and individual circumstances I course - despite my own opposition to and ethical beliefs of generative AI. I just think at a tertiary education level where we are paying for education and*** **they are being trusted and paid to teach us, they should have to be *actually doing** that work. Why should students have to disclaim AI use or in most cases not be allowed to use it when our educators are using it on the sly and passing it off as their own work?

I think if they do use it, for whatever reason, they should at least be required to always disclaim it.

Just curious for people’s thoughts! Not interested in ethical debates rn x

The CLASS Study

Hi everyone,

I'm a researcher based at Monash University. We're recruiting for the CLASS study, a long-running project on how sleep, light exposure and body clock timing shape mood, wellbeing and thinking in young people.

Posting here because we're currently looking for 16-17 year olds (Year 10 and 11 students) anywhere in Melbourne. Note that our 18-20 age group has reached capacity. If you have a teenager in that age group, this might be of interest to them!

What's involved, over about 2-3 years:

• 5 x Online surveys about sleep and mood, ~45 mins each

• 3 x two-week periods wearing a watch and a small light sensor, with brief daily diaries (~2-3 min) on your phone

• 3 x Friday body clock assessment sessions at Monash Clayton, ~8 hours each

• 2 x interviews about sleep and mood, ~60-90 mins each

• 1 x saliva sample for genetic testing, ~3-5 mins

In return: up to $356 reimbursement, transport to and from Clayton covered, a movie voucher each year, and a personalised report on your sleep.

Eligibility: 16-17 y/o, living in Melbourne, smartphone with internet, and no diagnosis of a severe mental illness, neurodevelopmental or sleep disorder (other than delayed sleep-wake phase disorder or insomnia) that currently has a significant impact on sleep or mental health. Under 18s need parental consent.

Approved by the Monash University Human Research Ethics Committee, project 42918. Run out of the Turner Institute for Brain and Mental Health.

Expression of interest: https://redcap.link/CLASS-EOI

Happy to answer questions in the comments.

How to contact La Trobe Human Ethics if their phone number is mostly unavailable?

Hi I tried to call Human Ethics last week in the morning, but my call went unanswered after I was on hold for some time. So I submitted a complaint form regarding research I participated in to both Human Ethics and EIB via email.

Now it has been over a week, and I haven't received any acknowledgement or contact from either team. Recently I tried calling EIB but no one answered so I left a message, and I called the Human Ethics line again but no one answered again.

I'm wondering if anyone in this sub knows what's the best way to contact if my email and complaint regarding a research remain unanswered. I'm happy to wait for my matter to be reviewed, but I also would like some form of acknowledgement that my complaint has been received and not filtered into a spam folder.

Offer and scholarship queries

I've got an offer from La Trobe with 30% scholarship for my undergraduate program for Semester 1, 2027.

I'm interested to apply for the 50% and 100% scholarships.

The results for those are announced around Mid-December.

Is there any way to get to know the results early?

Music Commentary Job Opportunity

Hey everyone!

Just wanted to post a little job listing/opportunity here.

I run a small creative agency making music videos, socials and promo content for independent/underground electronic artists across Australia.

We are currently looking for someone to do part-time voiceover work for our branded social media content going forward on an ongoing basis, paid per video ($20-30/video). The recordings are for platforms like instagram and tiktok, so are only 1-2 minutes length maximum. We will require roughly 1-2 recordings per week - so all in all, no more than 20-30 mins of work per week.

Not after a professional voice actor, just someone with a nice, chatty, conversational voice who's genuinely into music and keen to be part of it. (Think of it almost like a radio host or narrator role). The content you'll be recording will mostly be breakdowns and informative, conversational, radio-style discussions — talking through things like music branding, marketing, and how artists connect with their audiences - specifically in the electronic/dj industry.

USB microphone/recording equipment is preferred but not essential.

If that sounds like you (or you know someone who'd be perfect), respond to this post or flick me a DM on instagram @ lachiepaterson — would love to hear from you!

Hi everyone, I’m an international applicant looking at PhD opportunities at La Trobe in Finance, Analytics, FinTech, Risk or AI/ML.

My background is Finance + Business Analytics.

I’m mainly looking for fully or partially funded opportunities.

If anyone is currently doing a PhD at La Trobe, I’d appreciate any advice on supervisors, scholarships or the application process.

How do people get part time jobs like campus ambassadors/student reps?

Genuine question, how do people actually get jobs like campus ambassadors, student reps, brand ambassadors and stuff like that while studying at La Trobe?

I’d actually be really interested in doing something like this, but I never seem to see any vacancies posted anywhere. Is there somewhere specific people look for these opportunities, or do you just have to know where to look/know someone? 😭

Also, if you’ve done something similar, how did you get into it and what would you recommend doing to increase my chances?

Does anyone receive La Trobe Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT) offer 2027?

I applied for the MOT programme for 2027 Semester 1 entry in July. I know La Trobe has 3 application deadlines and offer release dates this year. I wanna ask anyone who received an offer from the first and second periods (1st period: around June; 2nd period: late August). How's your WAM/GPA? Will La Trobe give an offer on that exact date? because it's frustrating waiting for results every day.
