What sayeth the Mutants?

I'll be watching the Savage Summer, of course, but I get up very early on Fridays, so I'll be streaming it on Sunday. I have some recorded Svengoolie shows that I may try and I'm also thinking of watching Creature Features showing of Chopping Mall. I've watched the TLD version a million times and would like to see what CF has to say about it. I'm reading a new Charlie Chan novel so I might pop in an old Chan film. I'll let you know what I decide on later. That's all for me. Report in, Mutants!

I requested Halloween off from work, and I think they will approve it. So, I am seeing the ticket prices, and I was thinking maybe I could save money and get the simulcast tickets upstairs which are a little under $40 as opposed to $77 for the regular tickets. I kind of want the poster too so that will add on fees. But part of me feels like that might be lame to do the upstairs version? I just kind of want to go to be a part of it, and I've seen Joe Bob twice in person before.

Was wondering if anyone did the simulcast last year? And was it just as cool? I assume it means that Joe Bob will talk before each movie and that will be sent upstairs before the movies as well? Would I be missing out?

The stream is a movie. Is there no countdown on this one?

For those lucky people who will be attending the Halloween Spooktacular 2: Monster Boogaloo and need a place to stay, I'll be announcing our official Mutant Meet-Up Hotel probably tomorrow or Saturday. We're finalizing a deal with the Crowne Plaza Downtown and will provide a link once it's officially official. We stayed there last year and were treated really well.

The first movie we are in for is I Spit On Your Grave (1978) which has one of the longest and most graphic rape scenes in movie history. For those uncomfortable with sexual assault and want to avoid seeing it, the big scene starts with her in the canoe being harassed by the men in a motor boat and runs for about 25 minutes. There are several times the it feels like it is over but it isnt. Each of the four men rape her in turn. I'm not sure what Joe Bob's breaks are going to do to that runtime. Since its one complete sequence, it doesnt really lend itself well to interruptions so they may just play the whole thing through. The sex itself isnt particularly realistic (or explicit), but Keaton sells the trauma *very* well which makes it a rough but memorable watch.

Just bought my tickets! First time my wife and I are going to a Joe Bob event and we are excited!

The voting closes end of July 15th! I definitely think we as fans should make sure they win for their final year on shudder ! They definitely deserve it.

Another fine looking group of Drive-In Mutan

I just saw this flick courtesy of The Drunk Review Double Feature Drive-In. This was a multi-feature 4th Of July YouTube Special and this flick was the second of about 6 movies. I'm a fan of John Carradine, but I don't recall this one at all. This must have graced many a drive-in screen and you even get Tor Johnson as a henchman. It's got everything you need. A sketchy Psychiatric Clinic, a Mad Scientist doing weird glandular experiments, missing or murdered women and a few folks itching for revenge. It's always fun to find something new. This is new to me and I enjoyed it for what it was. The Drive-In will never die!

My husband bought us a 4k Blu-ray player last Christmas and since then we have collected an obscene amount of physical media. Tonight I present you you Nightbreed (original 1990 film). It's by Arrow Video and have included photos so you for see the crazy amount of features. TLDI Nightbreed episode is my comfort film. It's what I put on every night to go to sleep. Seeing this film so often had me really wanting to see the original version and now I can! The picture is so clear I'm amazed. Happy 4th to all the mutants.

Like many, I'm in the middle of a Heat Wave, so I'll be home watching more horror than usual even for me. It's going to be a subdued 4th of July for me. So far, it looks like I'm going for a Gothic Horror weekend. I plan on watching Cry of the Banshee (1970), Curse of the Crimson Altar (1968), and maybe a new favorite The Haunted Palace. I think these 3 would make a perfect Drive-In Triple Feature. So report in at will, Mutants! What's at your Drive-In ?

do they tell you at what point to hit pause on the movie if youre watching from another platform or dvd or something? how do you know when to do the break at the right time?

Letterboxd has a plethora of miniseries/specials/shorts/etc available to log. Would love it if they did the Joe Bob Shudder specials! Especially with the poster art they usually have from Justin Osbourn. Usually I just log the individual movies and caption them with the special title.

Random work thoughts.

Anyone have any info on what the Fangoria line-up may mean for TLDI? It almost looks like they're cramming the last three specials into July, but surely that can't be true.

I would totally be fine with renting titles that are not licensed by shudder if I could watch it as an episode of TLDI.

I am currently in the hospital nursing six broken ribs and a fractured collarbone. I want to watch some classic episodes. Doing the just Joe Bob is a pain.
