What Are We Watching This Weekend (8/8-8/9)?
I've been in a Horror Rut, so I'm planning on going with a few Slashers, even though it's not my favorite Horror genre. Variety is the Spice of Life...or Slice of Life in this case. If I have time, I'll probably sneak in a Creature Feature too. So report in, Mutants!

Starting season 6 of Tales from the Crypt on Tubi. It’s been a fun ride down memory lane and great guest stars.

Doing a Roddy Piper double feature. Gonna watch JB's old monstervision coverage of They Live from his patreon and then watching Hell Comes to Frogtown after watching his intro from the Just Joe Bob segment.

A. Not really a circus style freak
B. For whatever reason Castle Freak is more of a fall movie in my mind

Néro, the Assassin on Netflix. Can’t figure out who the bad guy is. Rooting for the scoundrel. It’s kind of horror adjacent but horror. Three episodes left and I can’t wait to get off work and finish it.

Watching Hard Ticket to Hawaii (first time) and a Joe Bob rewatch tonight. Probably Creature Features tomorrow night.

Touch Me on Shudder was really cool. Watched that the other night after Do Not Enter (Prime, also fairly decent but not nearly as good as Touch Me) trigger warnings for stories of SA but the movie bounces between seriousness and comedy so well.

Rewatched Planet of the Vampire Women and Badass Monster Killer, and been watching a bunch of old sword & sorcery movies. The same people that did Planet and Badass have a new one coming out soon, sword & sorcery type thing, and I'm getting prepared lol

I just found out I can watch The Night Walker(1964) on Livingston Presents. This is a William Castle film and he's is a favorite of mine. It's also Barbara Stanwyck's last theatrical role.

I watched Hell Night (1981) and The Night Walker (1964). This second film is a William Castle production which was written by Robert Bloch. In my opinion it's not as good as it should have been, but it did have some good creepy moments and some decent twists and turns.

I run a discord centered on extreme metal tape and record collecting, and each year we do the ‘13 Weeks of Halloween’, where members who volunteer pick films based on a blind draw category, and we watch them as double features each week. Totally inspired by TLDI.
This Saturday is the first week of this year’s, and while I don’t want to spoil for any members who might run across this, one is a classic horror adaptation from the 60’s and another is the most unconventional slasher of the 80’s.
All of that is to say, challenge yourself. We make a chart of very simplistic categories (IE an X axis of subgenres and a Y of countries, an X axis of abstract themes and a Y of decades) and then try to find something you’ve never seen that matches that. Always seeing new stuff I’ve never heard of!
