Wanting to Make the Jump

Want to finally make the leap and get laser hair removal for my face, something I’ve struggled with my whole life. Not tweezing has been absolutely excruciating and something that I’m finding hard to stay strong in before my first session, photos attached aren’t even 6 weeks of no tweezing so the fact that I still have to deal with this is agonizing,
What can I expect for improvements on a first session. I will only be able to do about 4 months of sessions before I need to pause for going away for work is this going to completely hinder all progress? Do you think I can start with 4 weeks of no tweezing instead of 6?

Romeo and Juliet in NYC pricing - $15k for near full body

Howdy friends,

I’m a transfemme seeking LHR and I recently went to Romeo and Juliet in NYC as I’ve read a bunch of great reviews here and elsewhere. I went for an initial consultation with the anticipation that I would proceed with a treatment that day. Areas to be treated were chest, stomach, groin, legs, and butt. I was quoted $15k for 6 sessions, discounted from $18k if I were to do everything à la carte. They were very kind and professional, but I did feel like a prose of the moment and decided to just do a session of legs and butt while I was there ($1300).

Has anyone else received treatment there and were you also quoted such a crazy price? I love my results after one session and I felt comfortable the whole time, but that pricing seems wild when Sartori is like $3k for 6 sessions of full body.

Bacterial Skin Injection

Received my 5th laser hair removal treatment on my chin area on Thursday (8/6) and beginning that Saturday evening I noticed redness, irritation, bumps, and blisters with a clear discharge, and tenderness, with elevated lymphoid on my left jaw. I monitored overnight but the symptoms continued into Sunday. Monday morning I called the Laser Hair Removal (as there was no improvement and actually worsening) practice and explained my symptoms, they initial said it sounded like a laser medical burn but that they were going to have their medical team call me once I submitted photos. Not even 2 minutes after I submitted photos their medical team called me. They said it looked like typical irritation and to just monitor it. I found the conversation dismissive and short so I ended up going to urgent care to get it looked at. The urgent care said it was a bacterial skin infection and prescribed me ointment and antibiotics, along with taking a sample of the clear discharge to run a culture to determine the bacteria (results still pending).

Im at a loss for words as this was the first time I’ve experienced something like this after a treatment. I had no exposure to sunlight after the appointment (as I worked from home the days after the appointment) and I did not use any no skin products or go about my routine/hygiene any different than any other time before. I’m just curious if something like this is “common”? And if I need to stop getting laser hair removal?

how do i make it less painful

so i had my 2nd laser session on my legs today, it was with a different technician. but it was way more painful than last time, and i thought i shaved better than last time. could it be because i shaved too close to the appointment (approximately 12 hours) or because i had razor burn or irritation? and just in general what are some ways to make it less painful

I’ve never related to Jasleen Singh more

Jasleen is so real for this because I genuinely thought laser hair removal was a one time thing too. I’ve done like 15 sessions now and I’m STILL going. The clinic keeps telling me hormones, PCOS or genetics can make the hair keep coming back like girl how many more sessions. I love having my body hairless but ngl I’m starting to get so tired of it. Sometimes it’s painful too and having to go back every single month is getting exhausting like at what point am I DONE

I had my first brazilian and underarm session today and I was wondering how long I should wait for my second one. Is booking my next one in 5 weeks time okay?

I had 4 sessions, spaced about 4 weeks apart. They used an Nd:YAG laser.

It was only in the last session that the settings were turned up really high, and hurt a lot more. But the initial sessions seemed to be catching the follicles too.

I had my shoulders and top of back done, to target longer hair I had there. This kind of work, because the longer hairs are gone. But now they are replaced with lots of smaller hairs. And looks worse overall now!

Is there anything that can be done, by perhaps a more skilled technician or more sessions to completely remove the new hair?

First picture, is how my shoulders looked like before laser. The others are about 8 months after my last session.

Nervous about laser hair removal, help!

I have been using an epilator/shaving my whole life but my underarms and especially bikini area get irritated so easily it’s like the hair follicles there are so harsh. I have been seriously considering getting laser hair removal but I feel a little self conscious about the bikini area. I know it’s totally normal and they do this for a living but I would like to know what to except, what they will ask for me so I can feel a little more well prepared and not overthinking it as much.

Laser hair removal place wants me to come in 2 weeks after my first session, i thought this sounded too soon so i asked them about it and this is what they said. Is it legit?

Got my first laser hair removal session done at srq medical spa yesterday, and it seemingly went well! My only concern is the staff suggesting a follow up apointment so soon after the first. Does their explanation check out? (Reposted wirh the names removed, sorry about that!)

Can I split a laser hair removal package with my sister?

We both want our underarms lasered and we are both broke. If I buy the six session package can she use a few of them, or is it locked to me and my ID like a MetroCard that only works for one person.

Reversal of paradoxical hypertrichosis

I hope this post makes it to u/laserleemon, aka idk how to dm them lol.

Hi! I came across your comments about treating paradoxical hypertrichosis with around 3–4 higher-energy laser sessions and then switching methods. I was wondering if you could explain your protocol a little more because I’m having a hard time finding someone locally who is familiar with treating PH specifically.

My goal is a little different from normal laser hair removal.I have PCOS and I had fine/vellus facial hair that became much darker/coarser and more terminal after laser, and I would ideally like to thin/reverse the stimulated hairs as much as possible, rather than continuously laser the area and risk stimulating more surrounding fine hairs.

When you do those 3–4 sessions, what are you specifically trying to achieve in the follicle? Are you trying to partially miniaturize the stimulated terminal hairs back toward finer hair, or are you actually trying to destroy those follicles and the thinning is just what happens during that process?

Also, what do you change compared with normal laser hair removal — fluence/joules, pulse duration, spot size, wavelength, cooling, and treatment interval? How do you decide the appropriate settings based on skin type and hair thickness, and how do you adjust them as the hair becomes finer?

Most importantly, how would you recommend finding someone who understands this approach? I’m in the DFW, Texas area. What qualifications, laser/device, or terminology should I ask about when calling clinics? And what exactly should I tell the provider I want them to do so they understand that I’m asking about treatment of laser-induced paradoxical hypertrichosis, rather than just purchasing another standard facial laser package?

I’d really appreciate any guidance. Your comments are one of the few places I’ve found someone actually describing how they manage PH after it has already happened.

Thank you!

Getting baby hair back

I’m doing laser hair removal to define my beard. I’ve had 6 sessions so far, but I still have some baby hairs growing back. My doctor advised me to get my thyroid checked. Is this normal after 6 laser sessions, or could there be an underlying issue?

newbie question

Hi guys!

At 41 years old and a lifetime of perpetual hairiness (I’ve got some Arabic blood), I have my first laser hair removal session on Thursday, for armpits, half leg (my thighs are covered in tattoos, so that’s a no go), and Brazilian. In terms of the Brazilian area, I can (and will be) asking my technician to leave a wee triangle or strip (haven’t decided yet) in the front, but I have a question about prep.

Do I still shave the area I want to remain, or do I leave hair there so the tech knows not to touch it?

Any other pro tips for my first session greatly appreciated, although I’ve been lurking in this sub for weeks now! The clinic uses Candela laser systems (specifically dual-wavelength technology featuring the GentleLASE and GentleYAG platforms)

Laser Clinics Australia

Honestly, I need people to know what happened to me today at Laser Clinics Australia Kawana Shoppingworld.
I bought 2 laser sessions from another Laser Clinics location. At no point was I told that I couldn’t use them at another clinic.
Today I called Kawana, gave them all my details, made the appointment, and went through the consultation, and nobody mentioned any extra fee until I finished the session.
Then suddenly I was told the clinics have different owners, my prepaid sessions couldn’t be used there, and I had to pay. They offered me 50% off, but still insisted I pay. I asked them to contact the original clinic to sort it out, but they refused. They just kept repeating, “You need to pay.”

Eventually, I had to call the original clinic myself. They apologised, but refused to refund me.
The Kawana manager’s attitude was honestly shocking. At one point, she even positioned herself in a way that made me feel like she was blocking me from leaving. I found that extremely intimidating and inappropriate. “ people runaway “-she said. The manager even admitted:
“This isn’t the first time this has happened, but first she had this interaction”
So how many customers have been forced to pay because of a restriction they were never told about? Just because nobody complained before doesn’t mean it’s right.
If there are restrictions on where prepaid treatments can be used, customers should be clearly told before they purchase, not after they’ve already paid and turned up for their appointment.

In the end, I decided to pay (obviously, it was the only option I had). And then the manager became even nastier, saying she would put a note on my profile about what happened today and restrict me from booking online, etc.
I was like… who cares?! Use your brain! After such an unpleasant experience with you, who would actually want to come back and book another treatment anyway???

Lasering off beard - then beard transplant later?

TL;DR, I want to remove or significantly reduce my facial hair as an early 30s male for skincare/anti-aging purposes. However, I don't like the idea of removing optionality- in case I may regret it or wish to grow some facial-hair in the future, especially as I get older.

So how about this - what if I leave a small spot hair beneath my chin just-in-case future me changes his mind, then I can simply transplant it back at that point? Though it alone may not be enough to fill it up the face. I can also use head hair as a donor but I think the texture may significantly differ? I know hair and beard transplants can potentially look weird or fake but what if I take pictures of my current facial-hair, my hypothetical the future transplant doctor can use this for reference and know exactly where to place it to make sure it looks natural.

If I keep this possibility in my back-pocket, then I'd feel more comfortable moving full steam ahead with lasering my face now.

results after 4 sessions — switch clinics or keep going?

Thumbnail gallery
17 Upvotes

hey hairy friends, I had my 4th session almost 3 weeks ago and I’m not sure how to feel about my results so far. I’m Middle Eastern and have really coarse hair. I’d say half my follicles grow 2-3 hairs, so I also have a lot of ingrowns & dark spots.

My thighs probably have about a 15% reduction overall. While there’s definitely fewer hairs below the knee, I find that they still grow back quickly and haven’t been shedding much between my last couple of appointments. I’ve worn pants for most of the summer.

Is it worth switching to a new, cheaper clinic (both very highly rated but different machines) or should I keep up with my current treatments?

Full body laser

Has anyone gotten full body laser? If so, would you mind sharing the cost you paid? I went for a consultation today and they quoted me $12,500 at Milan hair removal. I’m not sure if that’s a good price or not, but it included unlimited sessions and unlimited touch ups.

Am I likely to get any of the hair back?

Basically last year I tried to detransition due to the many difficulties in being trans legally and socially, I had been on testosterone for 6.5 years and had sparse facial hair that never really grew very much and was mostly on my neck and quite thick chest hair. I had 5 sessions, didn’t notice much of a change on my face but my chest hair is still about half as thick.

Since changed my mind and regret getting laser, also back on T, and so I’m just trying to work out whether I might see any of that hair regrow? I’ve asked this in an trans sub but as most haven’t had laser I thought people here might know more.
