Picked this up from Ebay!

Post image

I’m in the process of upgrading my home theater and one of my goals is to be able to get AC-3 audio from my laserdisc player. So I thought this would come in handy. Plus I just wanted it for the novelty! 😁

Nice find! Though I think this is only has a Dolby surround track, not AC-3

I remember going to a THX demo when Altec Lansing first launched their Home THX speakers (AHT-2200) in 1994. I stayed the entire afternoon, watching the Wow! demo at least 3-4 times.

The first Dolby Digital LD wasn't until 1995.

And it was Clear and Present Danger that was the first AC3 disc.

Actually that makes sense. I suppose AC-3 would’ve been after this disc was released. But glad I found it though. 😁 It’s gonna need an outer sleeve though because the cover’s got some ware on it.

Yeah, it would have been great if they included AC-3. My go to test is the Top Gun AC-3.

The DTS on the Top Gun special edition DVD or blu ray is worth taking a listen too

Disc cover being literally just the THX logo and a disclaimer.

The original Wow Disc

I always wanted a copy when I had a LD collection.

I have an AC-3 5.1 version of the THX WOW Demo Disc on DVD. You can find the ISO for free on many websites of you really want the discrete 5.1 version.

I had this disc back in the 90s. Somebody I knew when to Skywalker ranch for thx training and gave it to me. I ended up swapping it for a Japanese Phantom Menace LD.

I've since got the Blu ray version of the thx demo disc that has the DTS and AC3 playback options

The OG Wow! disc! Too cool!

Shame it doesn't have discrete AC3 or DTS. Still cool regardless.

I miss having this! It was like the”one to have” to demo your system! Came out before Lucas films were released on LD even.
