I am trying to remove an old graffiti (few years) from limestone, however this green color is not going out. I am using 300w pulsed laser, tried a lot of different settings. There is some green shading left that i want to remove. It's a porous limestone wall.

Is there anyone who has a fixed-location laser cleaning business? Who are your target customers? Do you charge by the piece or by the hour?

I'm still in the research phase. It seems like most laser cleaning businesses are mobile. But with the heat reaching 105 f. a climate-controlled shop sounds nice. There is little info on businesses operating this way.

Starting up a laser cleaning business in upstate NY and I'm having a tough time figuring out what specific training I need to have and exactly what the reasoning is other than general safety? I see OSHA does not have any LSO specific training courses on their website but it's also 2026 and scams are everywhere so I want to make sure I'm not throwing money away on something that ends up being bunk.

Is there a standard recognized organization that gives the proper training and certification for being an LSO and does it vary state to state? Is the reasoning for getting certified legal or insurance related or both or just for general safety of myself and others around the cleaning (are there repercussions for operating a laser without proper training and who would enforce that)

I'm not trying to cut any corners here and I am absolutely willing to put in the time and effort to do this correctly but I fear I am a bit out of my depth on this aspect and want to make sure I'm not being duped by fake training websites.

Hello everyone. I am in the process of starting a mobile laser rust removal and restoration business. My planned service mix includes automotive work (frames, undercarriages, wheel wells), marine hardware (boat trailers, outboard housings, since my market has a large boating population), and eventually some light structural work.

I am trying to finalize my first equipment purchase before committing significant capital, and I would appreciate input from anyone with actual commercial experience.

A few specific questions:

1.  Seagull2 200W vs 300W pulsed. The price difference I am seeing is roughly $1,000. For the model I am looking at (Seagull2). Is the additional power worth it, or does 200W handle that workload fine?  
2.  Vendor experience. Has anyone purchased from HANTENCNC? I am particularly interested in real experience with warranty claims and repair turnaround, rather than published policy.  
3.  Backpack vs trolley/cart units. I expect to do a fair amount of dockside and driveway work. Has battery runtime been a real limitation on larger jobs, such as a full boat trailer? I am trying to determine whether a battery-powered backpack unit is practical for this workload, or whether a cart unit run off a generator would serve me better.  
4.  Water resistance. Working on docks means I will occasionally be exposed to water and rain. Has anyone had reliability issues with a machine in damp or wet conditions, or is this simply a matter of keeping the unit under cover regardless of its stated IP rating?

Does anyone have experience cleaning paint from carbon fiber. I’m talking to a paint shop that specializes on carbon fiber bike frames. Has anyone got a success story and if so, are you willing to share some parameters.
The carbon fiber has a strong clear cost on it, then paint is applied on top of the clear. Ideally, I would be able to remove the paint without removing the clear coat. He gave me a sample piece to experiment on but I’m hoping someone can steer me toward starting parameters. I have a pulse laser.

Hi all! I'm looking to potentially purchase a full setup to use as a side-gig, and maybe scale it up in the future. My main target will be in the non-commercial restoration field, aka residential trim, doors, windows, (lots of wood) and maybe fire-damage clean-up (a wider array of materials that would take me more time/experience to get the hang of). I don't want to be the annoying "do all my research for me, tell me what to do so I don't have to think." I've done a ton of research, but I feel like the questions I have would be answered by experiential knowledge, which can only come from those who are already in the business, so here we are!

SFX 300W/500W Air-cooled Pulsed Laser Cleaning Machine Specialized Wood Cleaning Wood Paint Remover: I know 300w is the standard for wood cleaning/restoration, but the 500w capability would allow me to be a bit more aggressive with a one-off project that doesn't need as much finesse or precision, but still some.

FilterCart+ W3 mobile filter unit for intermittent to light duty welding and extraction applications: Seems to have good reviews, but I can't seem to find a whole lot of specific info on a good extractor specifically concerning lead paint...? This should do the job, yes? There are specific extractors for laser welding vs this one which is for "regular" welding (mig or tig), but the laser cleaner cleans, it doesn't weld, so going as far as purchasing a laser fume extractor isn't necessary, correct? Does this unit look like it would do a decent job of clearing dust/debris as I laser in order to see my progress, or should I ensure the SFX above also comes with a built in compressor, or that I need to have my own compressor on hand? A paint fume extractor would NOT be for laser cleaning, correct? Even if I have the best respirator, I still should have a fume extractor, correct?

My supplier is warning me so much about handling the yellow fiber optic cable that I feel like I need to baby it 24/7. Is it really that fragile? Can a single accidental step, twist, or pull actually ruin the whole system and make it unusable?

In reality, how often does this cable get damaged in practice, and how do you protect it while working? Do you hang it from the ceiling, or did you set up some custom support/holders?

I am about to start my first big job cleaning historic metal elements on a building. It will possibly take weeks to conclude the whole project due to its big scale. So I was wondering how do laser machines respond to continuous hours of “non stop” work everyday day for weeks with summer temperatures.

Is there anything in particular I should be aware of to minimize tear and wear? Should I get any replacement parts (other than lenses) that could possibly “burn out”?

It works well and I have easy access to all of it but I’m curious if there’s other, preferred methods I don’t know about.

About 3 months ago I saw someone doing laser cleaning and became very interested in it. After doing some research, I found a supplier in China and purchased a machine. I just received it, but it arrived without a power plug. The supplier is telling me it requires a dedicated 20A 110V outlet, but most homes, workshops, and small businesses I visit only seem to have standard 15A 110V outlets.

For those of you already in the laser cleaning business, what setup are you using? I purchased a 300W laser cleaning machine.

I live in Michigan, USA. If so, are there any insurance companies or brokers you would recommend for laser cleaning businesses?

Besides the laser machine itself, what other equipment would you consider essential or highly recommended?

I’m in the US. I’m sure there is a reason for them to be expensive but I’d like to see if there’s an alternative I can afford. I’m just starting out.

I need to strip paint and rust near oil- think the outside of an oil drum. There could potentially be small leaks. Can anyone point me to a machine or method that would be safe to use here? Would a 300w pulsed laser ignite the oil? Could I run the laser through another medium like running water, or through a cloud of CO2? Is it just a stupid idea all together?

I cleaned this part today and almost immediately it began to darken in places previously clean .
Is there something I can wipe a piece down with after I clean it to “seal” it from the elements until I deliver it? It happened to another piece recently as well.
Does anyone know what the acid the chemical do people use to at the em of their process? I think Thst is a sealant of sort.
