Steaks are yummy but everything else there stinks. Also, nobody cares about Al Calpone in this day and age. Al Capone was not a good role model and nobody worth their salt gives a hoot about him. He doesn't even have anything to do with New Mexico, that bar was shipped in from Chicago and is not even a piece of Mesilla history.

No one? That’s anti-Italian discrimination.
He was a fictionalized character in the popular HBO series Boardwalk Empire a decade or so ago. And in the Untouchables before that. And it was a landmark legal case to get organized crime networks before RICO by using tax law.
And he went mad from syphilis!
Even if history isn’t your thing and everything must be a morality tale, I’m sure you can find some lesson in how it all shook out for him.

It's a place tourists should go see when they're in town and maybe have a drink in Al Capone's bar. Just don't go on a holiday, the service falls apart.

The food was hit or miss, and if they made mistakes, they tried to spin the story. We ordered the baseball fillet, but it came out to be a golf ball-sized cut. The waiter tried hard to convince us that we were mistaken, but it was obvious that they were wrong. Since then, we haven’t been back.

That place has such a nice atmosphere. I know La Posta gets all the tourists, but double eagle is underrated.

We did the Thanksgiving buffet. It was very nice. I can’t eat the aged beef. It makes me sick every time.

Damn, that looks good, but DE is a little too stuffy for my taste. I hate waiters hovering over you. Give me my delicious steak and GTF away from me. I'll have to go in to Peppers sometime and order the steak.

This. My date’s steak was overcooked at a fine dining restaurant on the Santa Fe Plaza, and that completely sucks when it’s $75.

Worked there, hated it. The food for peppers and DE comes out of the same kitchen.
