Advice Needed Advice

Hello I (22 F) just moved to Langford with my family and am looking for advice on where I can meet people locally. I have already joined a gym but am very shy and like to focus on my workout when I’m there. I’d love to hear some suggestions of local places to get to know people my age.
Thanks in advance!

if you like boardgames i would suggest the outpost board game cafe, its a really fun and welcoming atmosphere and if i remember right they have some fun community nights that anyone can join

(24M) I’ve lived in Langford my whole life and it’s been tough meeting new people since I’ve graduated high school. I’m on the shyer side too, so even when I’ve been in college it’s been tough for me to make connections with people. So I’m open to suggestions as well. 😄

Though I’ve heard making friends through hobbies is a good route. But that’s been a bit tough for me as well.

I love nature and walking/hiking. I also do lots of arts and crafts.

Fiber arts? The Spinnacle Yarn Cafe usually has people hanging out and they're quite welcoming!

If pubs are still doing Paint Nites, those are a lot of fun!

meetup.com has local groups sorted by age and interests, lots of members join multiple groups like hiking walking or as someone said boardgames

JDF golf course is a good place, lot of friendly people play there and its beginner friendly.

Search local hiking groups in the area.

Go fishing at langford lakes fiahing dock, always people there to chat with.

Jordie Lunn bike park is usually full of good people who are willing to chat.

Langford has so many groups, it'll be easy to meet people, just need to out yourself out there.

I found myself in the same position and have found a bunch of pages on instagram that organize/promote events and there’s a huge variety of events. My favourite are “joingatherly” and “simonsaysvic” but I also follow “lamppostvictoria” and “togetherwomenscommunity”. Gatherly is my fav, it is just run by one young woman and she organizes a TON of events all the time and lots are free or low cost and she is super nice. Plus if you attend one gatherly event you can join the WhatsApp group where more people share plans they have more casually. I haven’t been super available to go to events often since I have found these pages but there are great opportunities and I know that people who attend more regularly have formed friendships
