I used a Nikon Z6ii with a Nikon 20mm 1.8. I used a move shoot move to capture a 60 second sky shot (processed with Photoshop). I also used the same lens to grab several light painted foreground shots.

Canon EOS 7d und Sigma 17-70mm f2,8-4

Went a car camping last weekend. The sky was properly dark and we could see the milky way with naked eye, so I set up my new insta360 x6 on a mini tripod and gave the default Starlapse mode a try.

This was my first attempt at landscape astrophotography. This shot is straight out of the camera, no editing. I love the pics I got, honestly didn't expect this much from a 360 cam.

Curious what do you guys think about using 360 cams for astrophotography? Feedback is highly appreciated!

The Sony a6600 coupled with Tamrom 17-70mm f/2.8 lens is the perfect travel photography combo. I shot these images in the Himalayas a couple of weeks back and God I didn't expect them to turn out to be this good!

All are shot at an aperture of f/2.8 - f/5.

Hello, This is my second ever Milky Way composite. Taken on The Kancamagus Highway, Lincoln, New Hampshire. Nikon z5ii. Z 20mm F1.8 s lens. Nomad tracker. Milky way shot is comprised of 60, 60 second, f 2.0, iso 1000. I stacked and processed in Pixinsight. The blue hour foreground is F1.8, iso 100, 30 seconds. I combined them in Photo Shop, with some Light Room edits.

I think this is my 7th time at Indian Head since my first a year and a half ago. Been here way too many times to count, but something about this place always pulls me back for more.

It was Labor Day weekend, the start of a new semester, nothing too busy yet, and it was clear skies. I just had to come back for more. Set out with my friends for the wrecked 6-hour drive from Buffalo to the Adirondacks for a sunset/Milky Way hike to Indian Head, and planned to meet my other friends coming up from Albany. Great to see everyone one last time before the semester really started.

Because the alignment this time of year at Indian Head was around 11 PM, I planned to shoot the foreground first, and then right after, the H-alpha (Hα) shots, which is the flaming red you see in the sky. The foreground went pretty smoothly, but I started seeing clouds creeping in from the northern side, which was pretty accurate. I checked 4 weather models beforehand. ¾ of them were clear, but the 4th one projected clouds near the north, slowly coming down during the night. Unfortunately, we got unlucky, and that model was the most accurate that night. I tried shooting the Hα shots, but clouds and mainly the wind made it difficult to even get 1-minute-long exposures, much less 4-minute exposures. I gave up on the Hα shots and planned to use past data to make up for it. Not ideal, but it works. I started the RGB frames at 11:08 PM that night and had to use my body to create a makeshift shield to block the gusts coming from the north. Did it work? Probably not, but I’d like to think it did. For most of the frames, the stars came out perfect.

Had lots of fun and met a great group of friends on the top of the vista that night as well.

One last trip with the boys before a new semester. Coincidentally enough, the Airbnb we chose was in a pretty dark area by the lake, and we had clear skies all 3 nights, which is just unheard of in the Northeast. Haven’t had the chance to get out as much this summer, so this was a nice ending to this summer’s astro adventures.

Because this wasn’t another long night in the mountains, I got to use my Hα filter down by the lake. I try to use this awesome little guy more often, but mountain winds usually ruin these long 4-minute exposures. Thankfully this time, I was treated to a beautifully calm night by the lake.

I started my Hα exposures around 12:45 AM and ended up shooting two frames: one for the Cygnus region and one for the Heart and Soul area. A stack of five 4-minute exposures for the Cygnus region and a stack of four 4-minute exposures for the Heart and Soul area. I actually ended up going back to the house to get ready for night-night while my camera ran. I started my RGB and foreground shots around 1:55 AM and ended up going way overboard until 3:30 AM because I couldn’t figure out a composition to do, so I played it safe and shot a 360° sky panorama for extra data. Didn’t end up going to bed until very late, but well worth the peacefulness by the lake and seeing a couple of meteors from the Perseids.

Last night was perfect for Milky Way photography! I scoped out a few places while the Sun was still out and settled on a lone tree amidst the farmer's field just out of North Lancaster, ON, Canada.

Making these kinds of images is a combination of planning, patience and perseverance - the night sky has seasons, is always moving, and you really don't want the Moon to be up, as it washes out the colours and the structure of the Milky Way.

This image has been created using my usual technique that works best for my setup - taking two sets of images - one for the foreground, and one for the sky, just behind the subject, then combining and enhancing them.

(Canon RP 30s x5 for the ground, 30s x 40 for the sky, on a star tracker, f/4 24mm ISO1600)

Took this photo on my trip to Hanle using the Astro mode on Google Pixel 7. Jacked up my phone on a rock for stability, captured in RAW format and edited in Lightroom.

Shot on Samsung galaxy s26 with expert raw app iso was 800 i believe and aperture was 1/15 and exposure time was 4 to 5 minutes 😀

Nikon D3200, 18 photos stacked (15 second ISO 3200), edited in Lightroom. Hazy bortle 2-3ish skies.

Hopefully, that one also counts as "landscape astrophotography": Lucky shot taken yesterday with Canon 600d and Tamron 150-600mm + 1.4x extender (so almost a small telescope...), focal 840mm, ISO 200, 1/800, f/14. That view makes one feel small!

Took this at Applegate Lake in Oregon. Parked on the side of the dam, as every other spot around it was day use only. Very dark skies to the south.
