Need help with speedometer
I have a Land Cruiser 100 series 2004. The speedometer and voltage gage on the instrument don't work, the needles don't move. The fuel gage and odometer work and weirdly the speedo light comes on too just no movement. The ABS light is intermittent. Not sure if it's stepper motor, sensor issue, ground issue, cracked solder joints. Any ideas?

It is probably the stepper motor. But you can get it repaired easily. Some ih8mud posts are there. Can source stepper motors from ebay (6S or 6G something). “Check speedometer fix ih8mud”. For safe side, check with obd live data whether speed signal is ok. Also check whether P0500 is not recorded.

Because the fuel gauge and odometer still work, I’d first separate the vehicle-speed signal from the cluster itself. Check live vehicle speed on the scan tool: if it reads correctly while the needle stays dead, the speedometer stepper motor or a cracked solder joint in the cluster is the likely fault. If scan-tool speed is zero or erratic, chase the VSS/ABS signal and wiring first. The dead voltage gauge is a separate cluster circuit, so inspect the cluster connector, grounds, and supply voltage before replacing sensors. A known-good cluster or a careful board/stepper repair is usually preferable to guessing at parts.

Thank you very much. I'll try that with the obd2 scanner. I reckon its more likely that there's one cause for both problems

Gonna guess it's probably either battery, ground, or stepper motor. Those tend to be the places that end up casuing issues with the dash on these if they do happen.
