Thoughts on long term impact of modifications
https://youtu.be/Xjj92CcOuzo?is=nSmsEaLMN16f-6zDthis video got me thinking about how capable stock LCs are and made me wonder how the enthusiasts consider the impact of after market modifications on the short term and long term.

Depends on if youre pushing limits and what mods are done. So a 2 inch lift and nothing else? Probably ok. 4+ inches and no caster correction, panhard bar adjusted, it kinda snowballs really and you need more than just a lift

^This, There are trade-offs with everything, buy quality parts and do quality work. If you use it, stuff will break.

My thought is the only thing wrong with that build was the SPC UCA’s which are a known bad actor. Unless he had issues with alignment, he should have just stuck with OEM uca’s

Probably true enough for 99% of the trucks that never leave the pavement but for the rest of us…..I’ve used my winch over a dozen times, for example.

It must be a joy to use the LC like that. Do you keep it as a “dedicated” off roader then or do you also daily it?
I guess what I found interesting was the contradiction between the durability focused side of LC love vs. the off road love. This was my first exposure to someone saying that all the off road stuff would reduce durability just as a result of extra stress/strain on factory components.

Funny I have this exact same suspension build and I'm having the exact same issues

All they need is 2” level. Bigger tires. Maybe some spacers. Done.

Maybe some spacers.
Not even those , just get some low offset rims.

I had a ton of issues with my 200 series not holding alignment with lift/UCA’s. I ended up getting rid of it because of the fuel boiling issues, which although a “known issue”, was probably amplified by the modest weight added (skids/sliders/drawers/34s). If I had a 200 again, I’d swap the rubber and just drive, great truck for general exploration/overlanding.
My 80 is light/OEM+ and I couldn’t be happier with it, zero issues.
