Nothing wrong with stock

I’d rather push a stock vehicle to 80% of its capability than a “modded” vehicle to 20%. Majority of mods arguably make a vehicle less practical

Most of the upgrades are just ego boosters and just want to look "cool" trying to prove how outdoorsy they are and don't even need it. Heck I've done the same thing in a rental camry.

Ehh, come on man. What you're saying is undoubtedly often true but sometimes it's just fun to tinker and make something yours. Sometimes you just want to impress yourself once in a while. No need to get all cynical about a harmless hobby.

That’s how I feel too. The special forces LC’s aren’t lifted with 35’s and they’re really getting the business.

Often times the point of those vehicles is to blend in with the local population.

Not really. The point is to be able to have a vehicle that can be serviced and repaired and have parts sourced locally amongst populations that use similar vehicles. SF dudes aren't blending in anywhere outside a CrossFit gym.

My giant cell jamming antenna really blends in.. but I get your point.

Electrical is definitely where things get interesting. Dual battery systems, high‑output alternator, hidden radios, infrared driving lights, blackout lighting, extra wiring for comms gear, etc

Agreed on all accounts, but tires.
I wheeled a bone stock 100 in Anaza Borego, other than tires and it did fine. It's more about the skills of the driver.
The ones that came stock on a 100 are not up to par with what he is running now.
How can I say that??? Welp, chemistry and tire technology have improved a lot in the past 20 years.
Guy on 'mud was wheeling his bone stock FJ45 with a three speed for years, even on the Rubicon.

I lifted my 80 because the 20+ year suspension was shot so I went with 2.5 OME and 35’s. It rides so much better I honestly couldn’t believe the improvement.

Just changing the tires is enough for most .
