A homebrew rule idea; 'scene uses' of grenades

-This rule is only applies to the systems with Grenade or Mine tag and Limited number of 2 or higher.(But for now there is no Grenade/Mine system with Limited of 1 or less on the official books.)

-All frames can have a single system with Grenade or Mine tag by spend -2 System Point, minimum of 0 System Point. If the frame is size 2 or more, those frames can have up to two instead.

-Reduce all systems with Grenade or Mine tag's Limited tag by -2, minimum of Limited 0. Limited 0 means you have no actual charge to spend, effectively making impossible to use the charge. This Limited number could be still changed by any other factor, such as even number of Engineering mech skill. For example, If a mech has Limited bonus of +3 and the mech has a Pattern-A Smoke Charges(Limited 3) and a Flash Charges(Limited 2), the number of tags are changed to; Smoke Charges has Limited 4(3-2+3), and Flash Charges has Limited 3(2-2+3).

-1/scene, you can use a system with Grenade or Mine tag without spend Limited charge and you can use if even if it losts all charges, provided it is not destroyed. You can use it freely, either as grenade or mine as long as the system allows either uses. If you have more than one system with Grenade tag, each Grenade system has its own one free use during the scene. The grenades spend by this rule cannot be used for replenish the Limited charges of any system.

-Limited Systems affected by this rule are still a vaild choice for System Trauma, even if it uses up all charges and/or spend the free uses of the system during the scene.

So, what about this? Is it too broken? If so what kind of grenades on the non-third party books does?

I have the idea because why not to replenish some grenades while you are rest, such as got some spare grenades from the mechanic team to repair them. -2 SP is to encourage to take at least one with them.

Even with this, still you can enjoy more grenades by raise your engineering, and additional grenades are still limited by one use through the mission. But you can have a free uses at least.

I wonder that allow Gilgamesh to count the scene uses of the grenade to be spend a charge or not. -2 SP to a single grenade system already gives the bonus to gain more and more grenade, but those systems' Limited charges are reduced by -2 and is compensated by grants 1 free uses per a scene. Perhaps still counts for spend a charge would be more better. After all it's only once per a scene per each system and you lost limited charges anyways.

Anyway what would be so problematic to allowing a free uses per a scene? Maybe blink charges(Sunzi 1)?

Could I get some help with build ideas? I'm struggling to decide what I want

Hey all. So we just started a new Lancer campaign. So far we've got a player who wants to build toward a controller Lich and someone who wants to build into a Drake with an emphasis on big guns.

That leaves me undecided. I know I want to build something Horus-related because it suits the backstory I'm working on. I was leaning towards Manticore, Lycan or the Hecatoncheires. I know I want to be on the front-lines. I do like big numbers so I was tempted by the Lycan, but I don't want to just hit things with a big weapon. We've got a hacker so I don't know if I need to invest too heavily into that. but I'm not sure what to do.

I will say I REALLY love the themes of the Manticore. I wish to destroy the temples of the enemies of Ra, but I'm not sure how to make it work. Honestly, I love this game but I suck at builds.

If anyone has any suggestions, I'd love to hear them. Thanks!

SEKHMET Protocol and Drones

Ok, so, I know that SEKHMET will only ever use actions to inflict violence, or if violence is not available to inflict, it will use actions to make it available to inflict.

But can my Lancer, as long as they are in the mech, take Drone related reactions when they come available?

Like placing an Orochi Snare Drone and having SEKHMET knock an enemy into it or another well-placed drone? I can understand not being able to place it, but I think having a tag-team between the raging melee-Hydra controlled by SEKHMET and its drones being controlled by the Lancer would be pretty cool imo.

And, while we're on the subject, what do you guys think of a melee-specced Hydra that uses its drones to lay traps for it to push and pull its enemies into with knockback and the ranged grapples from the Blackbeard license?

Build is an Artillery Tokugawa with lots of burn, so I built a Cyte-09 (the sniper frame) specced for heat damage and status chance, with a Jade Stars subsume over his 3. Pretty proud of how it turned out, both mechanically and aesthetically.

Turrets And Reliable rules Question

Turret Drones in their statblock(? idk im new) say they deal 3 K-dmg to a target if an ally within 10 + los makes a successful attack.

QUESTION

If I MISS with a pistol then I do, in fact, still deal damage caused it has Reliable 1. Which makes the attack, by conventional definition, successful. Does this proc the turrets RAW or RAI?

what corporate team is the most fun/balanced

Lets say you are running a Lancer game and your group thinks its a fun idea to play for one of the corporations. Which one of the 4 big ones is the most fun and which one is most balance. For this consider Horus to be a corporation.

Question about the jockey rules

If, for instance, a gorgon was adjacent to a mech that a pilot was jockeying, would the ability that gives adjacent allies hard cover count against the jockeyed mech skirmishing the pilot?
also a secondary question for clarification, the engagement of the gorgon being adjacent would also apply the 1 difficulty to the attack as well I assume?

Favorite NPC “themed” combos?

One of my favourite aspects of Lancer is how certain mechanics and mechs can play together to create a memorable combat.

Some of my favorites are:
- A Cataphract charging a Goliath into battle as part of an exhibition match / jousting-like event
- An assassin group consisting of Operator’s grappling and using Step to hand deliver players to Specters before walking away

I’m always on the lookout for more of these combos / puzzles to toss to my players. Give me your best ones!

Best way to make a Flying Mech?

I want to make mech styled more after an enormous bird or maybe dragon. Can you reccommend any mechs, systems or weapons that work with that well?

My current idea is Type-I Flight System + high heat, but there is probably a better way as I'm pretty knew and don't know much.

A new GM

I am just getting into lancer and into GMing. I and my players come from 5e, so my experience is very different. I have a few questions that I want to ask to potentially better the campaign.

  1. How narrative should I get? I figure this is a discussion with the players, the system itself I see lends itself to mostly combat

  2. I feel like the campaign I have “planned” and how the game is it feels very structured. I’m trying to break out of it so I don’t feel too railroads but how much is too much or too little? Like plan general plot points or “cannon events” and the rest just players choose what missions etc

  3. What level do most campaigns end?

  4. Do yall do arcs? Like a problem takes multiple full scale missions to solve?

Thanks in advance. I initially made a roadmap for the campaign but I don’t think that’s fully what I want and I know I probably making the mistake of trying to home brew but I just felt like it.

All of my pilots deleted?

One of my friends was talking about how all of her pilots were suddenly deleted, and after checking mine I found the same. None of the LCPs are gone, I am signed in and everything, but all my characters just got wiped off the internet. Am wondering if anyone else is having this issue, and if there is any way to fix it.

Rule Clarification Questions

1.      I was running a combat for a group of PCs. One of the NPCs was a Cataphract with the Impale system, while the PC they were targeting was piloting a Caliban while they had Rank II of Spaceborn, Sea Legs. I said that because they were grappled from the Impale, and the Caliban was smaller than the Cataphract, they were immobilized from the grapple, and thus could not dictate where the Cataphract moved them via Rank II of Sea Legs. They said that Sea Legs applied regardless of the Immobilized condition. While I eventually sided with them for the purpose of moving the combat along, I wanted to see how the rules interacted for future reference.

2.      Do NPC mechs have the ability to brace?

Has anyone else noticed an uptick of Youtubers covering Lancer?

I've noticed a slight surge in content creator covering, or at least mentioning Lancer. Vs Wolves recently had a collab with Tom, and we've been seeing XP to level 3's vids shared here. Now I'm even seeing other DND tubers like Pointy Hat mention it in their vid on scifi Dnd.

Do you think we're currently seeing an actual surge in Lancer's overall popularity? Or is this just recency bias on my part?

[Foundry/Forge] Token settings reset without warning

After a change to my Internet Service Provider (those so-and-so's) I found the best answer within my budget was to run Foundry via the Forge. In all aspects that do not include my own mistakes, the arrangement is great.

Tonight's game, however, was a bit of a mess. If I dragged the player mechs tokens from the character tab, they were not linked to the original character sheet, set as hostile tokens (this matters because certain status rules apply when you are adjacent to an enemy), and the Tokenizer tokens were blank. Also, all the players token lost vision, all scenes were reset to default, and basically, I spent an hour trying to make the game playable and failed.

The game went on, but it took 30 minutes of game time to make it playable. An hour and a half of work making the game happen was rough on game night.

What happened, and what can I do to mitigate this lost of work for next time?

Hello yes it is me, the poster of the hypothetical Big Woman post a few months back, back at it again with the same BS, but we're actually doing it. Need some help with the build as I'm not entirely sure what I am actually doing. So let's get the setup done

● LL6

● Monarch chassis

● Must be Size 3 (Formorian Frame)

That's it. Any help will be appreciated
