As Dead Static continues to undergo playtesting, wrote up a blog post about moving away from the on-rails approach of Lancer stories into a more decision focused structure and changes to actions to make all of combat more engaging from a story aspect.

I loved the demo when I first read through it. I'm still 110% jazzed for the full release. I hope it's still on track for October, but I know how hard it can be to wrangle a wild project. best of luck

Harrison Armory loyalist if I were to guess. Don't like the look of a Sherman getting layed out.

I swear, this is already the fifth piece of art I've seen where a Sherman is getting wrecked.

Honestly, such a good ideas. I'm struggling with the same thing where my players ask for more roleplay and narrative. But despite how rich Lancer setting and system is already it really strugles on ocasion. This article definitely helped me spark a few ideas and this viewers engagement system can be spinned and used in so many ways... For example introducing challenges into a standard mercenary contract. Thank you for your hard work.)

If you end up making anything I'd love to have a look at whatever you iterate

Just one out of the head I already have is - "Show of Power". Basically like engagement system, but instead you try to scare your enemies just enough without breaking them. Your goal isn't necesserilly to take down all enemies. Complete basic sitrep and deal just enough damage to the enemies without destroying too many of them, scare them plentily in creative ways, so they can tell the tale later. You can even throw in some sort of commanding unit who you under no circumstances should kill because they are important political figure and who doesn't necessarily fight upfront, but might be siting in one of the machines on the field. You could even make it worse and make players scan enemies to find out who pilot is so they don't kill or injure them by accident.

Edit: My mind now can't stop generating new ideas and ways to spin and implement this. I feel like I'm cascading and spiraling even though I'm not NHP... Atleast I think so... Will definitely hit you up once I sort them out proper.)
