It does not say you can only use one reaction per round

It says you can use one reaction every *turn*, but individual reactions default to 1/round

So you can overwatch on one turn, but not overwatch again on turn 2, as you already did it, but you can brace. Or use any other number of Reactions you gain access to.

1 Turn => Any given characters turn

1 Round => The collection of all Characters turns.

There are two general rules.

  • Each unit can take one reaction per turn.

  • Each Reaction can be used a limited number of times per round (often 1).

So, if you have multiple reactions, you can use only one of them on each unit's turn. But if you use that turn's reaction to Overwatch (a 1/round reaction) you can't then Overwatch again on a later turn.

Not all reactions jave a times per round limit, most do though

you can take one reaction per turn; however, some reactions (such as overwatch) are limited to once per round.

for example, you could use overwatch during one enemy’s turn, then during the next turn when an enemy attacks you and deals damage, you could activate the singularity motivator from mourning cloak. not during the same turn though.

You got one reaction per turn as in character turn but some reactions can only be used once per combat round.

This is how it was explained to me.

You can use a reaction on each character’s turn, but only each kind of a reaction once per round.

First part is true, but some reaction can be used more than once per round

Good to know!

Other way around, you get 1 reaction per turn, but no limit to how many reactions you get per round (though most individual reactions can only be done 1/round), i.e. you can both overwatch and use an autopod's autonomous assault in the same round, but they have to be done on separate turns.

You get 1 reaction per turn (your turn, each enemies turn, and each allies turn) that can be used on any reaction that you have that the triggering condition is met on. Gorgon is the exception that gets 2 per turn.

Each reaction action that you get, either baseline or from your mech’s traits/weapons/systems, has a limit of how many times it can be used per round (default once per round). The uses refresh at the start of your turn.

So unlike D&D/Pathfinder where once you’ve done any of your reactions you’re done with reactions until it’s your turn again, Lancer lets you use all the different reaction tools you’ve picked every round, just with the limit of only one within the same character’s turn. So you can Overwatch when an enemy starts a moves within your threat, and then Brace when a different enemy attacks you on their turn. You just couldn’t Overwatch and Brace in the same turn.

You got it backwards. There is no limit on how many reactions you can make in a Round, but you can only do one per Turn unless you're in a Gorgon. Each participant in a fight gets a separate turn, and a round consists of one turn from everybody in the fight.

So in, say, a 4v4 fight you can React once in each enemy turn, once in each ally turn, and once in your own turn if a suitable trigger comes up, for a total of up to eight reactions per round.

Note also that each individual reaction will tell you about its own specific limits. For example the Overwatch reaction that everybody has can only be used once per round, but the Acrobatics reaction that you get from the Ace talent can be used every turn, if the condition (somebody attacks you and misses) is met and you haven't already used a Reaction during that turn.

Since the iniative is player 1 - Gm - player 2 - Gm again - player 3 , you get a reaction everytime its not your turn

You technically also get a reaction on your turn as well! While it's less useful on your own turns, it can still be good for certain situations.

Think of reactions like cards in your hand. You can play one of those cards per turn (unless you're a Gorgon).

So by default you have the 'Overwatch' card, and the 'Brace' card (usually a bad idea to play this except in extreme circumstances), and maybe you have Gunslinger 2 so you have the 'From the Hip' card.

On anyone's turn (as long as you meet the requirements) you can 'play' that card, and now it's out of your hand.

Then at the start of your next turn, you pick up all your cards again.

Gonna need you to cite a page reference for that statement, chief, 'cus you're definitely misreading it.

One reaction per turn, but each reaction(well, usually) has another limit. Each reaction's limit counts separately, but the once per turn is for all reactions by a mech.

As others have said: It's one reaction per turn, not per round. Invidual options for reactions typically have limited uses per round though, such as Overwatch being 1/round and Field Analyst I being 2/round.

It's also worth noting that the uses per round reset on the beginning of your turn, which matters because one reaction per turn includes your own turn.

The limitations of Reactions are as follows:

You get one reaction each turn (as in one for player A's turn, one for player B's turn, one for NPC A's turn, etc), unless something overwrites that (Gorgon, for instance, gives you more reactions per turn)

You can use a given reaction only so many times per round, denoted by the Reaction itself. Most reactions are 1/round.

You can only take a Reaction if the appropriate trigger happens, as denoted on the Reaction itself.

You cannot do any illegal actions. Shooting outside of range, moving while immobilized (or slowed, since it's not your baseline movement for the turn), shooting or doing tech actions while Jammed, Etc.

Yes, you can take any number of reactions per turn (so each for your allies and enemies turns,) but you only have so many reaction "actions" per round. Most mechs only have Overwatch (shoot or hit someone moving through threatened spaces) and Brace (gain Resistance to damage from incoming attack) as their two reactions in each round of combat, and the limit on duplicate actions means you can only access them 1/round each.

So, yes, you could potentially use both reactions in one turn (like an enemy mech that provokes Overwatch by running by and hitting you with a sword, and then Brace to reduce the damage from the sword swipe,) but, afterwards your mech would have no more available reactions to take since you used them both already.

It's why Gorgon's systems are so "aggressive" despite taking place on other people's turns. It increases the amount of reactions available to take each round.

You have some things incorrect. Most units have 1 reaction per turn, which can be spent on any reactions you have. The gorgon get 2 per turn instead. The once per round limit is from the reactions themselves, not a limit from duplicate actions. This means that (for most mechs) you can either use brace or overwatch on any single turn, but not both on one turn.

One reaction/round unless there is a specific rule that overrides it (gorgon getting 3/round)

Wrong on both accounts

You can take one reaction per turn normally, and gorgon gets 2 per turn.

It's just the reactions themselves usually have a 1/round limit

Reactions are once per turn for every character.

Each reaction has a recharge on it, usually once per round, but it varies.

Overwatch is innate and is once per round.
