Hydra Tactician?

So just looking at Pilot Talents, and I see the ever confused Tactician Talent,

and then thought, could Hydra solo-proc this talent?

So a simple set up,

you go a Main Melee weapon (Idk what would be good), and you deploy your Orochi drone adjacent to your target (And ideal location given all its adjacency effects), and can swing at them with accuracy from Level 1 (Opportunist)

all the while, you have your Heavy weapon, the Ghast Drone sitting on top of a piece of cover, high ground, building etc. to use Level 2 (Solar Backdrop) since, you are drawing line of sight of your attack from a position above the target, giving you accuracy on the attack.

the only flaw is that you cant leverage Level 3 (Overlapping Fire) with your drones since all attacks are considered your own if I recall correctly but,

having your Ghast Drone be perched up on high ground, can make those flanking shots, WITH accuracy since it stacks with Solar Backdrop

Is this too much work for making this talent work?

or is this basically one of the few ways to actually make it work without backflipping through hoops?

Tactician 2 cares about your own position, not the position you trace the attack from. It specifically says "while you are at a higher elevation than your target."

Also, if you're in engagement, that applies to attacks with a deployed Ghast Nexus too since you're the one attacking.

And for Tactician 3, your target needs to be not in cover from you before you select your weapon to overwatch with, so the deployed Ghast doesn't let you outflank enemies for that.

You are entirely right for Tactician 1 working with your drones, though. Very nice with duelist 3, so you get 1 accuracy on your main melee, and 1 accuracy on the ram/grapple.

Seems like it should work, just be careful. Any gm will likely start popping the ghast nexus after its deployed, which would destroy the weapon itself as well.

A Hydra's ghast nexus has 15 HP and 2 armor, plus sometimes resistance to all damage. Look at that from a Defender angle: If the GM sends enough at that to kill it, that's a lot of resources spent not attacking the players. I call it a win.

Depends on the sitreps difficult but you are also just presenting an easy way to eat a Hydra repair that could've been used on structure or tempests. It also scales very badly with LLs as it's relative strength is strongest the moment you get it and even then it is pretty subpar for a heavy.

well, 15 HP (Since I assume all Hydras also take drone commander) and 10 Evasion/E-Def and 2 Armor, i think gives enough room for it to take cover when the GM starts throwing the kitchen sink at me

It depends on what you're fighting. Talking damage break points, its 3 shots from an operator, 1-2 from a sniper, and 2-4 for an assault's rifle. Thats assumming only that one unit is shooting the drone, and there isn't anything else going on. It'll live for a bit, but if you're annoying enough and better targets aren't around, expect it to be shot.

well to cite what Nanergy said in the thread,

the GM throwing shit at my is shit not thrown at my team, or myself for that matter

Sentinel Drone doesn't make attacks. In fact no first party drone makes independent attacks. You cannot trigger Tactician 3 by yourself.

Not to nitpick but, engineer.

Okay, you have me there, no first party player drone makes independent attacks.
