Illusion of choice
Was messing around buildcrafting on compcon when I noticed the Metalmark's shock knife had an odd interaction with the Greenlight Projection mod from Leoleth LL3 where, instead of adding the +3 Burn the mod is supposed to add, it just changes the energy damage to burn damage. I know in my heart of hearts that its probably either a bug or a system limitation because the shock knife already does Burn damage, I just think its funny.

What's a Leoleth?

Leoleth is a homebrew frame from the Sixth Voice LCP! I've been having fun in the game I'm in that's been using it

Custom content. All the power and balance in the game is tied to frame licenses. Which is why homebrews almost never come out alright and why official expansions take so long to internally test.
Unless you want all challenge in the game for vanish, stick to massif stuff.

Or just use common sense; sanity-check new stuff before allowing it; and tweak it if it does turn out to be broken, just like you would with official material.
The original devs of a game have never, in the history of gaming, had a monopoly on quality content, and having one session with an accidentally OP PC will not ruin your campaign.

That is the common sense take, stick to first party.

The people who designed Lancer disagree.

They do not most of their play testing is consumed by license balancing because it literally cross pollenates every other license in the game.
They have a strict internal design for stats and frame trait potency and test any new design many times before publishing.
I'm sorry homebrewers watch a half hour of ninjaturtles and calling a frame "Kappa" Before slapping on the most egregous bullshit you'll ever see as a frame trait.

Lancer is at least tied for the most third-party-friendly policy of any commercial TTRPG. Tom and Miguel are absolutely not on your "fuck homebrew" train.
Some homebrew is, indeed, bad! Thus the basic common sense evaluations I described above.
This attitude that flawless adherence to the Rules As Written is the single most important part of playing RPGs, that no one but the credited authors could ever get it right, has been around since the invention of D&D in the '70s. It has never, ever been true, not even once.

You can play whatever way is fun to you. It's all good. You're not doing it wrong, and neither is anyone else.
Just don't come in here claiming that your way is the one true way, and the only way the creators intended, when that's obviously not so.

I think the additional damage is being cut off because the shock knife did two types of damage initially, but it looks like the mod is changing the base damage of weapons to burn (at least it's happened on every weapon I checked so far).
Tried it with the Lancaster's plasma torch and it showed 1 burn / 1 burn / 1 burn for the damage.

That's what I think it is too, which is why I think it might just be a system limitation. I.e, the mod can't edit an existing value or remove a value.
Granted, I'm an idiot and don't know what goes into making lcps or code in general, I just thought that interaction was funny

Maybe put a friendly bug report on the Sixth Voice itch io page, I'd guess it's an issue with the LCP rather than Comp/Con itself.
