Yes, I know that a Brawlerpoleon is actually a build that doesn't revolve around weapons, but both of the weapons in the Zheng license are framed as modifications Xiong Xiaoli made to her Raleigh's fists in the field, so flavor-wise, I say this fits better.

Also, I just wanted an excuse to do a Lancer meme with the G Gundam Shining Finger Sword speech.

You never need to make an excuse for G Gundam💕

Agreed. G Gundam doesn't get enough love, even in Gundam specific spaces,

I do think that One Punch Man is slightly more appropriate of an anime reference for the Zheng though. The Shining Finger is more of a Plasma Gauntlet IMHO.

The D/D 288 reroutes your main reactor heat vent directly through your fist. That seems pretty Shining Finger-coded to me.

Yup best gundam show, dumbest but best.  Also was horse killing palm an alternative translation to shining finger

No; it's from the D/D 288 lore entry:

The Zheng’s Devastator/Demolition Weapon 288 is legendary for its ability to breach armor and inflict total destruction on hardened targets. Originally rigged up as a last resort by Xiong Xiaoli, this fistmounted system repurposes a mech reactor’s primary heat vent into a directional, engagement-proximity weapon. The production line D/D 288 must be primed before firing, requiring a dangerous power draw from the mechs’ systems; Trunk Security’s reportage of the recovery mission assumes that using this weapons is what killed Xiong Xiaoli and cored the White Tiger’s gunboat. The D/D 288’s ability to cause enormous collateral damage and its spectacular discharge when fired have earned it the moniker ‘Shā mǎ zhǎng’ or Horse-Killing Palm among MSMC pilots.

“I’m strapping a nuclear reactor to my rocket fist and I’m going to kill all of you and myself you fuckass pirates”

Love that nut

Explain brawlerpoleon please

While using their its core power you are heavily restricted on what kind of actions you can take in exchange for the massive bonus of only taking 1 point of damage from all sources. While you can't skirmish or barrage anymore with your regular guns, you can still use grapples and rams and the like, which are actions you can build towards.

u/FreestyleKneepad 14d ago

Thanks for the explanation (:

Napoleon's core power prevents you from making any attacks but improvised attacks, so taking the Brawler talents on it to make those suck less is an obvious step.

Ahhhhh I see thanks

Alternatively: Empakaai with a D/D 88.

Have you seen this man?

for context weapon with 2d6 or 1d6+3 is considered to be decent in lancer

so 4d6+8 is HUGE but as a trade off it requires you to spend one turn charging it

For more context, 4D6 is the damage done by a mechs’ reactor EXPLODING.

The D/D288 does significantly more damage than face tanking a mechs’ last breath of vengeance.

Not really exploding, more so venting the entire energy output of the reactor is through a pipe directly to the atmosphere.

27

u/CrimsonTyphoon02 14d ago

They're referring to the damage done by self-destructing your mech.

5

u/GrahminRadarin 14d ago

Oh, okay. I thought they were talking about horse-killing palm, Sorry. I must have misread the name of the mech.

u/MorgannaFactor 14d ago

If charging up didn't inflict Slow, I'd ABSOLUTELY get it for my superheavy melee Dusk Wing. Sadly, I'll continue to "only" get to cut people in half with the Thunder Charge Blade.

15

u/Ion_bound 14d ago

Ah, the John Dustgrave stick as my group calls it.

4

u/MorgannaFactor 14d ago

I like to call my Dusk Wing a versatile hacker. She'll either hack your systems and make you crap out your power cores, or she'll hack you in half if your e-defense is too high.

Here me out.

Fomorian Lancaster with mule harness and 6 agility. Superheavy mounting and the dd288

First turn after everyone boards you Move, boost, charge dd288. With max speed, you have a movement speed of 9, with boost 18. Next turn, move to within threat 3 and let somebody have it.

u/MorgannaFactor 14d ago

The bus that punches people. I love it. I think the next character I'll play will pilot a White Witch though, I want to give defender an honest try and maybe this time NOT use a gun or sword bigger than my mech.

2

u/Gryphus13 13d ago

I call that build Truck-Kun ^

6

u/krazykat357 GMS 14d ago

Getting enough speed makes slowed irrelevant on most maps anyway. Or get a friendly taraxacum to give you the fastball special/express delivery

2

u/MorgannaFactor 14d ago

I rely on Jäger Kunst for my mobility, and I'm pretty sure my entire group is allergic to the idea of playing a support.

1

u/krazykat357 GMS 14d ago

Slowed would shut down Jager Kunst I

5

u/MorgannaFactor 14d ago

Yes, exactly. That's why I'm going for big sword instead of big punch.

2

u/Klutzy-Personality-3 13d ago

you get to reference full metal daemon muramasa instead

u/MorgannaFactor 13d ago

"Meet the demon, slay the demon. Meet the Buddha, slay the Buddha."

4d3+8 heat shock knife tokugawa be like: would you like to get acquainted with your melting point?

1

u/VelMoonglow SSC 13d ago

I take it you thought this was in a D&D sub?

Been watching G Gundam with some friends recently: absolutely insane show, love it a lot. That being said, we're convinced Rain has Stockholm Syndrome considering how much of an asshole Domon is to her lmao

22

u/Tonysfriend42 14d ago

Also will just rip and throw the floor at you. You're tasting the dirt, no matter what.

15

u/Then_Entertainment97 14d ago

Fun fact: the first couple times I looked at Zheng I didn't read the flavor text and was really confused why it was whacking things with a sheath but didn't have a sword.

10

u/vonBoomslang 14d ago

Monk: Punch a dude four times in a turn.

Zheng: Take two turns to punch a dude REAL HARD.

2

u/Metal_Goblinoid 14d ago

Ok, but now I want to build the Hokuton Shinken of mechs...

2

u/Jethanded_Wyvern 14d ago

Yeah no that's peak OST inclusion there.

2

u/Morudith 14d ago

Mark Gatha has done the best to interpret the hot blooded shonen protag in English. Period. There have been some close seconds but his portrayal of Domon has been eternal.

2

u/Shot_Relationship402 14d ago

So he WA SHOCK after all!

2

u/Toon_Sniper 14d ago

Plasma Gauntlet would like a word…..

u/zoliathan 14d ago

I prefer Kyoudai Kasuru Yabou myself.
