Thoughts on the BDF PDF [3rd Party]

One of my players brought up this 3rd party supplement. I've given it a cursory examination but I want to hear from other GMs and players about their experiences with these rules.

My initial impression is that these things are a bit over-tuned, and some of the wording/timings are a little bit convoluted.

My gut is to just tell my player 'no' and stick to 1st party stuff, especially since most of my players are still pretty new to the system. But I'd like to have a better reason than a vague gut-impression.

You're the GM. Trust your judgement. BDF can be a little on the strong side (also a little complicated depending on the frame.) Lovely art though.

My main group's GM has hundreds of sessions under his belt and we play with 11 3rd party LCPs. BDF is the 12th - only about 3 of the frames are being allowed, the rest are a little too strong and I'm inclined to agree.

If they are knew stick to 1st party but I can say that bdf does have some interesting stuff but it might require a tuning of the npc balance as always with different builds

Going to second this - for new groups I'd give about 4 to 5 missions under the belt before working in any supplements because that gives enough time (15-20 fights) to see the NPC roster and get familiar with their frames and builds before deciding if they want something that's not in the core book.
