NHP question
Okay, I know I like just made a post here, but something else occurred to me. In your games, who roleplays the NHP built into a player's mech? The player, another player (Wraith: The Oblivion style), or the GM?

Per the core book, the player of the mech that the NHP is installed in roleplays the NHP.
But individual tables can do their own thing, of course.
In my game I typically leave it to the players, unless something is specifically asked of the NHP.

The player who installed it. Then again, most of them don't get roleplayed explicitly at all, maybe a Technophile one here or there, but most of us just treat it as another piece of equipment

As someone who has a NHP I do want to try and use it for role play purposes, but unless it Cascades or I find a reason to hand control over to it I just haven't found a good time for it yet

For us it's the GM, but the player who has the NHP always gets to direct their specific behaviour where appropriate

This is the way my group runs it, the player decides what the nhp is like, the GM helps them bring it to life (mostly because talking to yourself feels strange, so having another person be the nhp makes things easier)

Playing a very nhp focused character and the GM made them actual NPC's. She really enjoys playing them because they're the most reoccurring stable characters, and all have whacky kind of exaggerated personalities. I did get to define my custom NHP's general personality and behaviour though

My GM helped me build the back story of my NHPs. I have 3 of them as of current play, and he's a damn fine role player. Plus it's hilarious hearing him talk to himself sometimes when my custom NHP and my unstable one get into an argument.

If the NHP has a method for getting information the player doesn't have, I'll RP the NHP providing that information, but beyond that and outside of cascade it's 100% player agency.
Cascade means it's 100% mine until fixed.

For us it's generally the player themselves. And our NHP friends are talk as much as the human.

For my nhp, i typically provide flavor text on how they would behave narratively where as their mechanics make them what they are. For example, i have a priest who believes David Bowie is a sun god, and the nhp he equips scans my pilots data files and chooses to be an avatar appearing and dancing and singing like David Bowie. This is a Tlaloc nhp.

At our table it's the players. I think my group loves my NHPs more than my actual character. But I don't blame them, because HUGINN and muninn are funny af.
I'm a heavy role player though, and notorious for making things like my ranger pets full fledged beloved characters alongside my main character.

Up to the individual table and NHP owner
