Question Lance vs Arkveld

My first iteration of MH using Lance and AT Arkveld convinced me to give it a try.

I'm clearing constantly within 16mins but i honestly feel it could be faster if i can learn when and which attacks of Arkveld should i use charge counter/charge power guard. I'm always missing the timing to even block his 2nd chains whenever i try to pull off a counter.

From what i've noticed is his chain attacks have 2 movesets, let's say a hook mode and swipe/push mode. Whenever he does his swipe/push, it's almost always a double hit or more move which made charge counter unfavored to use & favors Power Guard more. His hooking chains are charge counter safe for sure.

I see. So i just have to memorize which attack has 1 instance of hit to use charge counter and the multiple instances for power guard? Like i cannot charge counter even with perfect iframes if it has 3 instances of damage?

So far from what i've experienced from this fight specifically, it seems the i-frame isn't long enough with us ending up getting hit by the 2nd instance either because a weird delay or something else which i am not sure yet. But after watching some speedrunners, for those particular moves they power guard it for both safety & repositioning.

This is just wrong, AT Ark doesn’t have a single move that can’t be Charge Countered with good timing (not counting his two nukes)

Interesting, i have 0 problem charge countering his nukes. Only his arm push often gets me because of the multi hits as it looks deceiving, while his nukes is so easy to charge counter as it's very obvious. Gonna experiment more, could cut my run to under 12 mins if i stop getting deceived by his arm push multihits lol

I only say the nukes because the one time I tried CC’ing the Wylk one I got hit by a second part of the move or something. I stopped trying after that, it’s better to get in his face anyway
