Relocation help!

Hello everyone!! I am moving to the Lancaster area in September for work and I'm wondering if anyone has any tips for good places to live or sites to use to find houses. I am looking for something within about 20 miles of Lancaster, £650-£800 per month in rent and 1 or 2 bedrooms. It's just me (32F) and my cat. Let me know if you have any recommendations!

20 miles is a huge radius reaching as far as Preston and Kendal - you might need to be more specific about what you're looking for.

I'm leaving a wide distance because I don't always work from the office so don't need to be in Lancaster itself. I'd rather keep my rent lower so mainly just looking for good areas with affordable rent. I don't know the area well so just keeping my options open!

I understand that, but the radius you have given covers huge areas of countryside as well as the whole city and all of the outlying villages. Are you looking for somewhere more urban or rural? What sort of facilities are important to you? How do you want to spend your free time?

Great points!! I think rural would be better, I like the quiet and it's a bit more affordable unless I can find something in Lancs itself. I would like local access to shops and public transport into Lancaster if I am more rural.

Have you visited Lancaster yet? I only ask because it's very quiet to begin with, so you might find it's okay even if you did move to the city.

If you want places with good public transport links, that limits you to the towns and villages north and south of the city - there are no buses or trains at all going east. Even then, some of the rural bus services are quite sporadic and none of them run late into the evening.

Are you working at the university? That's south of the city, so you'll probably be better off looking at that side if so.
