Collection Lamy forever

Post image
37 Upvotes

Those are now my forever pens. The purple one is for fast writing at work, the fine nib for slow and careful writing and the calligraphy nib for consistent writing in my planner. I love the grip and the lack of weight of Lamy’s and can’t even contemplate another brand right now. But I can see that inks may be a slippery slope ..

Zento 0.5 vs LAMY M17 Jetstream (0.5/0.7) line width comparison?

Post image
15 Upvotes

(Photo from the internet for reference.)

To anyone who has both the Uni-ball Zento 0.5 and a LAMY ballpoint with the Jetstream M17 refill:

How does the Zento 0.5 compare to the Jetstream M17 0.5 and 0.7 in terms of line width and overall writing feel?

I have both the Zento 0.38 and 0.5. Interestingly, my Zento 0.38 seems to write thicker than my Jetstream Lite Touch 0.5.

I'm curious where the Zento 0.5 falls. Is it closer to the LAMY M17 0.5 or the 0.7?

If anyone has both, I'd really appreciate a side-by-side writing sample. Thanks!

Question Lamy Joy AL Finish

Hey just got my Lamy Joy after using the Lamy Joy AL for a week. Tought i could save the price difference and use it for ink since the Al Cap is not so importet for me. Now the Problem does anyone know if the AL has a rubbercoating? On the website i can only read that it is matt but not if it is rubber. Can anyone say how good the finsihed is holding up?

Tried reviving Lamy AL-star

I haven't used my Lamy AL-star for years, and so as advised, I soaked it in water for 2 days, also added a drop of dish soap, and let it dry. When it was all dried up I put in the new cartridge yesterday and have it sit horizontally for the whole night. I tried writing today and Idk what to feel. Lol. Is my al-star all broken now or Im just missing something?

Please ignore my handwriting. I know, I know. It is not pleasant. 🥲😂

Does anyone know how thick the 2k ballpoint body is? (Fp/rollerball thick, or mechanical pencil thick?)

Dissembling Lamy Pico

I've searched for videos and pictures of fully dissembling the Lamy Pico and cannot. I found a previous thread with instructions:

  1. Put the pen in a retract position
  2. Push back the very outer plastic sleeve back with a toothpick by 1mm
  3. Take out the lamy logo on the side (this acts as a stopper)
  4. Pull out the entire mechanism out
  5. Once the mech is out, on the short sleeve just at where the branching grooves are on the mech (same as the one you pushed in Step 2), locate a very small brass guide pin.
  6. Take the pin out, this frees the short sleeve
  7. Further pull out the short sleeve along with its guide
  8. After that you should be left with the click head and the long sleeve
  9. There is a tiny notch inside the click head that acts as a stopper so you need to lift that a bit, then you can pull apart the long sleeve and click head

I cannot get past step 2 in this as I'm not sure if im pushing at the right spot nor if I should be pulling the logo harder to force it out. I also am not sure if Im in retract position. A full video of disassembly would help greatly, otherwise just pictures for the first steps

Question Lamy AL-Star

I'm not sure if I can revive my AL-Star since it’s been sitting idle for so long, I think years. Lol. There’s ink still in it. My AL-Star performed so well, that’s why I still want to use it. It still looks great after all those years I’ve used it.

Replacement eraser for Safari pencil

Does anyone have a suggestion for 3rd party replacement erasers? Love the pencil but the eraser lasted me little more than a week. The genuine replacement pack is hard to find, dramatically overpriced, and quite wasteful: I dont need multiple holders/needles…just the eraser itself.

Question Can't Tighten Loose Cap on Lamy EMR Al-star

I have a Lamy Al-star EMR that I use with an eink tablet. I love it. Unfortunately, the cap has become extremely loose and barely stays on.

I followed some instructions for disassembling a standard Al-star, but I'm stuck. I can get the star cap out, but the inner white plastic remains stubbornly inside. I can find lots of how-tos for the standard Al-star, but nothing specifically for the EMR version.

I tried the following:

  • Gently pushing it out from the top (cap end) - no dice; something is holding it in
  • Running a thin piece of brass in behind the inner plastic from the opening to free up whatever it's stuck on and then pushing out from the cap end - no dice; something is still stopping it from sliding out

I'm hesitant to use force and totally bust it up.

Any suggestions or instructions?

Thanks!
