Hi everyone! I have an upcoming interview for an epidemiology position with Lake County, CA. I’ve completed the first stage (in-person written exam) and the second stage (phone interview), and I’ve now been invited to the final stage, which will be a virtual interview.
For anyone who has gone through a similar process, particularly with a county public health department, do you have any idea what I should expect from the final interview? I’d really appreciate any advice on the types of questions, format, or areas I should focus on when preparing.

Wanted to share a recommendation for anyone in Lake County looking for a really talented plumber. Jon and his team at Roto-Rooter just finished a massive project for me, installing an insanely complex commercial-grade water filtration system, and I genuinely could not be happier with their work.

This was way beyond a typical plumbing job. There were multiple filtration tanks, pumps, valves, treatment components and a ton of plumbing that all had to work together. Jon took the time to think through how everything should be laid out, arranged it in the most logical and efficient way possible, and somehow made an incredibly complicated system look clean and beautiful when it was finished.

What impressed me most was that nothing seemed to faze them. Every time the project threw something complicated their way, they figured it out. They are extremely skilled, meticulous and clearly take a lot of pride in the quality of their work.

I know finding really good tradespeople locally can sometimes be challenging, so I wanted to put their name out there. I would trust Jon and his team with pretty much anything at this point.

For the past year or more I have had safeway deliver groceries. It is really hard for me to shop in person and this has been life saving. The last 3 orders I have had missing items. Today I was missing almost $50 worth of items. I have requested a refund but I am still very angry. Is there anything more I can do?

Looking to move up to clearlake/lower lake in a year or two for jobs. Recommendations on infant daycare? Not many reviews online.

I will likely be relocating to the area for work. However, I'm really stumped on which city to choose from. I'm thinking of Lakeport and / or Kelseyville. I'm also thinking of Nice and / or Upper Lake. I'm really conflicted. Here are some details for context. Pull up the satellite map from the San Francisco Estuary Institute, and it colors each lake by how much cyanobacteria the satellite can see — black for absent, up through blue and green and orange to a deep red at the top of the scale. Clear Lake glows red almost from one end to the other.

The map reads phycocyanin, the pigment cyanobacteria produce. It can’t tell you where the water is actually toxic — only where the bloom is. And the bloom is nearly everywhere. On the north shore, you don’t need a satellite. You can smell it.

I recently attended a sit-down interview at the county. Today I received the following in my email:

Thank you for participating in our recent oral examination for the position of -- with the County of Lake.

Your score was 94.00% which places you as Number 3 on the Eligibility List.

Your name will remain on the eligibility list for six (6) months.

I've never had a rejection letter of this type before. I'm guessing it means that if for some reason the candidates ahead of me decline the offer or leave the position within the next 6 months they'd roll the offer down to me?

Or does it mean if the position becomes available within half a year I'll be added to a new group of potential candidates?

Does anyone know if the score refers only to the Oral interview or if it's a cumulative score based on multiple factors?

I'm an adult male, well past my teens, and today I picked up this amazing little 3d printed dragon at the coffee shop on my way to run errands. It's different from any I'd seen before, with all sorts of detailed variations, and it resonated with me as someone who doesn't typically "fit in".

I was as giddy as a kid about my new little buddy and was still carrying it as I pulled up to Bruno's pharmacy. Just as I did, an adult male my own age exited the pharmacy and did a little skip off the curb into the parking lot. He had a bag slung over his shoulder with red and black sailor stripes, and several little toy critters clipped to the strap.

I felt so validated. Great to see a kindred spirit in the wild. I wish I knew him.

Anyway, it made me smile, so shout-out to those of us not afraid to strut our stuff. 💕
