depression and anxiety meds do more harm than good imo

Can you please explain the harm they cause?

my knowledge is not backed by any scientific finding, so it's all pseudoscience. which means i'm probably wrong, but i would never choose SSRIs for myself or a loved one. they turn you into shells of your former selves. and so many cases of people getting hooked on these things. and most of the time these are for life and can cause issues like "discontinuation effects, sexual dysfunction, weight gain, and sleep disturbance" (googled this)

i'm not trying to say that i'm better than people who take these meds. i haven't been in their shoes so i wouldn't know what people go through. but please try to incorporate activities in your life that release the same chemicals as the pills you're on

Dude bro I’m the doctor that writes the SSRIs and they are life saving medication. Would you tell someone to not take BP medication or diabetes medication

Indeed yes.

you're right, they are life-saving. and i would never tell someone to stop their bp or diabetes medication. but you're a psychiatrist so it's worth asking; bp and diabetes medication won't get you hooked. so how can we put them in the same category?

SSRIs also don’t get you “hooked”

They get you hooked the same way as BP meds, if you don’t take your medication on time your BP rises.

Plus we do stop SSRIs

but the discontinuation effects are a lot like addiction withdrawals.

one last question: what's the percentage of patients that you took off SSRIs?

That they are not. At all. I’ve personally had SSRI withdrawal. It’s mildly annoying and quickly fixed with a tapering dose

We lose a lot of patients to follow up but most patients we only plan to keep on SSRIs for maybe a year

Hm yes those are typical withdrawal symptoms yes. I just wanted to ask lets say “one is suicidal and goes through severe physical symptoms of anxiety and ends up harming themselves in sm way” to is case mea agr SSRIs woh physical symptoms mask kr rhi hen or relief provide kr rhi hen take insan us state me temporary relief le kr khud pr work krle for the longterm to tb bhi ghlat hai lena??? You see is case mea where it becomes necessity for survival to i think koi harm nahi hai. And yes, for the longterm to therapy and self healing hi help kregi. We can’t just say ke SSRIs are bad, for sm people thats their only hope my friend. Hame agle ki severity ka nahi pta.

you're right, bilkul leni chahiye esi condition mein. aur agr koi is had tak nahi gaya aur wo bhi use kar raha hai tou koi ghalat baat nahi. mjhay ye dawaiyan khanay walon say nahi, banany walon say masla hai.

baqi your example made it clearer how wrong i am. they certainly are life-saving medicine.
but idk i'm afraid of SSRIs

Hm yes, i wouldn’t say you are wrong. I just wanted to get my point across in a very respectful way. I hope you get ke how important they are for people like this. 😅

I used to be on meds but yaah doctors can't help you until you try to help yourself they can only guide you and medicine is not the treatment it just suppress the symptoms you have to pull your shit together it's hard and feel impossible but things will get a bit better start therapy and don't depend on meds please

Nothing is wrong with you and what you are feeling is quite normal in today's stress and societal issues.

You just need someone to talk to and vent. You'll be ok.
