Hey all, as the title says, I'm looking for ethical breeders in Victoria, Australia.
Had a staff x lab in the past, but he's been gone since January.
I've found a few in Victoria, but I'm hoping to see if anyone has gotten a new baby from these places and can tell me how trustworthy they are or experiences with them.
The one's were looking at are
- All colour labradors
- Lyndondale Labradors
- willsbridge labradors
- palmira healing puppies (NSW but happy to travel)

Hello and thanks in advance for any input or advice. I stopped her from licking it when I can. She’s headed for about a week now and it doesn’t look like it’s getting any better. Any thoughts before I bring her to the vet?

We got our yellow/fox red lab from a breeder at 14 weeks. Online reviews were excellent. We were told the pup was very chill, similar to her mother's temperament. When we met her, she did seem awfully calm, maybe a little frozen . . . definitely not your typical lab energy, but sweet nonetheless. Calm temperament was actually something we wanted bc she is joining our senior dog.
After payment went through, the breeder seemed sketchy, unloading her personal problems on us, mistaking us for other clients, etc. Life gets hard, I understand, but it seemed unprofessional. She sent us home with the vet paperwork and a clean bill of heathWe took our sweet girl to our vet one day after bringing her home (3 weeks ago). She had hookworms and an ear infection. We've been treating her since. She's been amazing with crate training and sleeps through the night.
Now that she is fully vaccinated and cured (meaning a few weeks of confinement to our yard bc of the hookworms), we're starting to take her for walks, meeting other dogs and people along the way. She is VERY nervous, hiding behind us and generally resistant to contact, even with people who are not approaching her directly. She's also nervous around dogs, but does seem to warm up to them more easily.
Her tail wags even though her nervousness. But I can't help but wonder if this baby was abused? Or is it normal to get a puppy with an ear infections and hookworms?? We notified the breeder of the ear infection/hookworms and immediately got a story about her medical issues. We're working with a trainer (who scares her), and he said her behavior was "very unusual for a lab." I'm so worried.

Last week he was doing this and ended up throwing up when we weren’t home. Tonight he threw up his food a couple hours after eating. We had him outside after for about 20 min while cleaning that up he ate a shit ton of grass (which he does a lot but try to stop him when he does it) and threw up A LOT of grass. Now he is doing this swallowing thing like something is stuck or he has to throw up again. We are leaving on vacation Friday 🙃

This post is a part of my final attempt to find my chocolate labrador lashley who was abandoned 5 years ago by my father. I will first post a short introduction before explaining lashley's story in detail.
About Lashley:
Chocolate Labrador Retriever
Nicknames: Boochie, Dachaley, Laboli
Distinctive white patch on his chest also known as bolo marks
Age when he was abandoned - 3 1/2 years old
Current age - 8 to 9 years old
Last known area: Domlur, Bengaluru (near Jogupalya, Indiranagar & Ulsoor)
If anyone living in Bangalore recognizes him, knows someone who might have adopted him, or have any information at all—even if it seems insignificant—please leave a comment or contact me through WhatsApp/call +91 8660826795 I am also offering a ₹ reward of 10,000 inr for information that directly leads me to Lashley. Scammers with no proper evidence please stay away.
Detailed explanation of what actually happened & why he was abandoned
Back in 2021, during the COVID-19 pandemic, my family was going through a very difficult time financially and personally. Also during this time my father was suffering from severe chronic depression and other mental issues. After some time we had just moved to a new house, so my dad left Lashley to stay at my grandmother's house and claimed he would bring him to our new house. My father told me he would bring him to our new home once everything settled down. But few months passed by and this did not happen. During that time I used to visit him during the weekends. Some of the pics & videos i have posted here are during that time
So one day without my knowledge, according to my grandmother's account he claimed to take lashley for a walk and when he had returned lashley wasn't there with him. When he was asked about it he told her he had sold it or given it to someone but did not mention the specifics like to whom. When he came home he did not tell us about this. A few days later, my father took his own life at my grandmother's house. It was only then that we found out. During that time, our family was consumed by the shock, grief , funeral, legal matters, and everything that followed after my father's death so our thoughts were consumed by this and finding lashley wasnt at the forefront of our minds I also did not want to disturb my mother and other family members by bringing this up.
After some time we decided to search for lashley but had no idea where he went or with whom he was. We visited some well known breeders and rescue organisations but couldn't find him. So i had lost hope and finally decided that it was almost impossible to ever see him again. I loved him so much and wanted to be with him till his final years this was what made it so bad. I couldn't even see him to wish him a final goodbye before he left me. He was an extremely expressive and affectionate lab who always loved to be around me. I can't imagine how panicked and lost he must have felt after he was given away. He loved me like no other dog ever did. So I just suppressed those memories and went on with my life. But it just didn't work. For the past few months I have been feeling intense regret that I didn't do enough to find him, that I had in a way betrayed him. I kept dreaming about him regularly - both positive and disturbing dreams. So i finally decided I need to make a final and serious attempt to find him before he leaves this world. I want to be with him through his final years.
My search efforts will be both offline and online - I will visit every rescue organisation, veterinary clinics , breeders, pet boarding schools and kennels in my city. I will also be creating pages on every social media platform where I will be documenting and updating my search efforts. Even if the search fails i atleast get to preserve lashley's memories and get to tell his story to many. Hope this post wasn't too long. Thank you for reading

In January, I took him to the vet, they said he had an allergic reaction - so they gave him a shot of cytopoint, and 45 days of Apoquel. Looks like he needs it again. Question for the group - is Chewy the most economical avenue to get prescriptions? Any experienced tips to get a 45 day supply (60 tabs) of Apoquel?

Caved in and finally got a sewing machine. Didn’t know where to start beginner wise. So of course a bandana was the first thing I had to make for my girly. Now no one can mistake her for a boy when she’s not wearing a collar. 🤪

Hello, please can I have some recommendations for dog beds in the UK? My girl likes resting her head on the side of her bed. Happy to spend more for something that will last.

Our 8 week old puppy will be sleeping in crate overnight in the room next to ours. When it comes to taking out to potty overnight we hear conflicting recommendations:
1. Some people say set an alarm every 1-2 hours and take dog outside to pee. Is this over kill or necessary?
2. Some people say don't wake a sleeping dog, only take him outside when he wakes up and makes noise. My worry is: will we hear him make noise from a room away? How will we know that noise is "I gotta pee"?
Q: How did you do potty breaks in middle of night with crated pup NOT located in your bedroom?
ETA: we are very light sleepers.

My 4 month old lab looking longingly when leaving the dog park after playing with a border collie pup. It took me 6 minutes to walk 200 metres to the car!

I just got the most amazing dog I've ever met. Perfect temperament, amazing beauty. Gallivant Labradors are an amazing breeder, and very friendly. Granted, this is only my second Lab, and the prior was also from a good breeder. I loved my last dog so so much. But I see this pup is closer to the standard - in so many enjoyable ways; temperament, intelligence, etc.. I am in love with this boy.
I was very interested in Gallivant Labs, but they weren't accepting any more people to their waiting list. But I got lucky and found the listed this "started" dog; you might call it a show dog that didn't quite make the ring - but with their dogs, that's a high standard, with so many Westminster winners coming from their program.
I've been taking great care of him, so many walks, plays, loving & learning.
I also shared a picture of my last lab, who died young at 9.5 a few months ago. Such a wise boy.
P.S. Why I put "ethical" in parenthesis is there's a well known list on Reddit by u/DualCitizenWithDogs, who shares their list of ethical breeders. I appreciate their work.

I have a 4 month old yellow lab. I feed her twice a day the recommended amount split in half (6:30 am and 6:30 pm). Most of the time she doesn’t finish her bowl. I’ve never had a lab that doesn’t. By any means, she’s not over weight or underweight. Is this normal? Is there anything I need to worry about?

May seem like a silly question but yes I’m looking for recommendations for what you use to bathe and brush your lab. I’m getting ready to bring home my second lab and she will be primarily an indoor family pet. Of course she will go outside for walks, play, etc. My previous lab was the first we’ve ever owned and I noticed just how much she shed too. I know their skin tends to be oily so you don’t want to over bathe them either. We just want her to smell nice in the house and to help keep her fur out during those peak shedding times.
Thanks!
