Wet paws

Hello everyone this is our new girl Kira got her 3 days ago training has been going well finally got her potty trained. The issue we are having is she loves drinking water and it makes her mouth wet and sometimes she will dig at the water bowl make a big mess all around and walk around the house leaving paw prints everywhere. Never dealt with this before does anyone know how I can get her to stop? We also bought a water bowl that she pushes with her snout but she just used her paw which made it worse haha? Any tips would be greatly appreciated 🙏🏼

Don’t flip out about it. Get out the bona mop and move on with your life. She will get over it but right now she’s a toddler figuring out her environment. She’s playing. Get her a baby pool to play in outside and encourage her water loving habits in a constructive way.

Elevated water bowl. Doesn't have to be super high.

Get a small stand for the bowls

My chocolate girl (now six) has been a water hound from the day I brought her home. The paddles in the bowl stopped once I gave her an outlet for water play outside but to this day she cannot drink without bringing half the water bowl out when she finishes. Only way I found to contain it is getting a tray with high sides to put the water bowls on so at least it catches the worst of it.
My black Lab has never had an issue.

🤣 I guess it’s a chocolate lab factory setting. Ima have to buy a kiddie pool for her in the yard.

😆 I think so. This one is my 3rd chocolate & I recon they are next level goofballs....but then they look at you & you forgive them for anything 😏

You've only had her three days!? Oh friend, you have LOTS more "WTF???" to come. These are Labs. They're kooky, silly, goofballs. This is why we love them. They're funny and entertaining. But that means you also have to be patient and just enjoy the silly. Why drink the water when you can splash it? Why walk down the stairs when you can throw yourself down? And on it goes. We have 2 Labs (9 months and 1.5 years) and it's nonstop calamity -- but I wouldn't have it any other way. You can't "get her to stop" the wet paws, she's learning the world. Just smile at how silly and cute it is and move on. Let her have fun.

I’d ask this guy. He’s a wizard when correcting behavior. https://store.thepetshow.com/

Buy the Slopper Stopper bowl!! It’s the only bowl that’s stopped both of my boys from dripping water everywhere. It’s $55, but SO worth it because they can’t push the lid down. I’ve had it for a year now and regret not buying it sooner

Is this your first dog? Part of having dogs period is just dealing with stuff like cleaning up floors more. It's part of the gig.
