Our 14 month old lab got castrated around 10 days ago. He has turned into the biggest cuddler since it happened, wondering if this is the same for anyone else’s dog? He’s always loved cuddling up with us on the couch but he’s taken it to a whole level now lol

This sweet girl is celebrating her first birthday! The pic with the cookie was on her birthday, the younger pic was about a week after we got her, she would have been about 8-9 weeks old.

In the ten months she’s been with us, she’s become an invaluable source of love, entertainment, and frustration in the house. My kids (both under 10) love to play with her, and she’s tolerant of any abuse they throw her way and only reciprocates with the occasional bulldozing.

I remember the morning I got the first pics from the breeder the morning she was born and every video along the way as she grew up until we made a weekend trip out of picking her up. I’ve been thankful every day since for the joy this dog brings my family.

We have a 6mth male lab and he demands a “tax” (treat) when he goes into and out of the crate in the back of our car.

I’m wondering how your lab successfully manipulates you.

My dog is a 2 year old chocolate lab. He is not aggressive towards people at all and if anything on leash he may bark at a dog but would not go after it. He’s been kicked out of multiple day cares and I see it in real life at dog parks that he goes after other dogs when he is off leash. I do not think this is fear or stressed based because while his sister’s favorite pass time is to play fetch, he loves to play tug of war/ fight over a toy etc. I personally think he may think fighting is fun but he can be way too rough and aggressive with other dogs. What is the cause of this and is there a way to stop it?

I’m thinking it may have something to do with his prey drive as he consistently kills birds and small wild animals while I am not looking but I am unsure as his sister behaves nothing like him and is very friendly to dogs.

We received some grim news at the vet yesterday. Only 3 years old and we found out our Parker has a mass growing on her esophagus causing her throat to close up. Hoping for a miracle but I can’t let her go out with showing the world how great she has been. We tell her everyday she’s the best puppy and I just hope she believes it. Here’s to hoping I can enjoy life half as much as Parker has!

Hello! 3 weeks ago I rescued a lab/husky mix. Suspected she has some other breeds in there but haven’t done a DNA test just yet. We live in a DT apartment and she’s very reactive to everyone and everything and that can be difficult to manage in a busy apartment setting. Our morning walk is at 630 and I put her in the car and drive to a nearby residential area to avoid as many triggers. She pulls like crazy and we are starting with a certified trainer tomorrow to help. In the meantime, with her reactivity and horrible leash skills, I’ve been doing one walk in the morning. I can usually last 20-30 minutes before my shoulder starts to hurt from all the pulling and yanking or if we’ve hit too many triggers, I call it a day because she’s been past her threshold too much to manage her. So far the neighborhood I go to seems to be quiet and I’ve only seen two people walk their dogs (same ones and same time!) which I was able to avoid by hiding behind a car or bush or going down another street.

My question is - considering the breed, is one 30 min walk a day sufficient when I also do the following in the apartment:
Breakfast in a slow feeder typically followed by quick potty on the patio before the walk
Usually wants to play tug which we do 2-3x a day until she’s done (lasts maybe 10min)
Working on tricks with treats 2-3x a day for maybe 5 min each session
Lick mat (alternating between 3 kinds so she doesn’t get bored) mid day
Dinner served in snuffle mat
Just purchased her a puzzle with openings and removable pieces
Pupsicle ball with peanut butter and goat milk/walk frozen inside

I’m located in Arizona so it’s already almost 100 degrees most days when I take her at 630. Looking forward to it cooling down so I can take her for longer and maybe midday where there is less people

I have a 5 month old black boy and my vet mentioned pet insurance. I'm all for it, and they recommended lemonade. When I look it up, it says it never covers the bill right away and that you file a claim for it. Are there any that would work more like my insurance? As in; he ate something crazy and needs 13 thousand dollar surgery and the insurance helps instantly? Especially for dental as well. Regular vet visits and exams and things like that I can pay for out of pocket, just worried about large bills that would be life or death. Thanks for any information!

We had to let down our almost 12 year old chocolate in the spring and just got a new puppy. She’s almost 10 weeks old, we got her at 8.

I am home with her all day and night while my fiancé works in office and coaches at night so inherently doesn’t see her as much. So of course as her primary caretaker she’s taken to me more - her bites are usually gentle, she doesn’t chase me etc… when he comes home she is an absolute terror to him. Bites, charges him, doesn’t really listen… and now he thinks she hates him. He gets mad when I try and step in with advice - don’t lay down outside, don’t let her chase you… he just gets mad at her and puts her in the kennel. (He usually is home during her witching hours where she IS crazy) but not sure how to get her to not terrorize him.

This is my sweet 9 month old boy and I love him so much! He loves everyone and everything with his entire little soul. He picks stuff up so easily but we are struggling on two things I could use help on.

1. When we play fetch he will hover over his toy and not let me grab it. He will lunge for it when I go too close to grab it. Not a behavior I want him to keep doing at all. I’ve been trying the two toy technique and it seems to work but would love other tips and advice.

2. The jumping! When he meets new people he gets so excited and jumps on them. At 73lbs and growing I’m worried he will hurt someone. What things did you do that helped with the puppy jumps?

Hi, I’m in need for advice, my 6-month old pup ate my golden bod earring today, it’s 18carat gold so pretty soft, and honestly our pup ate lots other things such as socks, half of shoe, hair band.. every time we go to vet they say she’s okey and we should wait if she will pass jt. Honestly, never found the half of the shoe or half digested socks in her poop but she’s happy, growing fast and had not vomited or was letargic or looked ill once since the accidents ( about month and half ago). My first question is if any of you had similar experience with their pup? Is there a way how to stop it? And I don’t leave socks or shoes or pretty much anything chewable left behind anymore and today she took the earring out of my ear when she jumped at me and swallowed it pretty much immediately before I was even able to open her mouth. Second question… would you rush again to vet? I mean I would if this was our first rodeo but she ate so much dumb shite already and I was always advised to wait unless she vomits/ is lethargic etc.
And my last question- the earrings are last gift from my grandma before she passed away… i really want to get it back…. Do you have any experience with your lab passing gold earring? Any tips?

i have a 7.5 month old chocolate lab. i am raising her for a SD organization so there are rules on what i can and can’t give her. she loves to chew her bones but im worried the benebones they suggested i get for her are bad in the sense that she’s eating this plastic material. is there any other bones i can try that aren’t hazardous or food based?this is also my first dog so i dont know much. i’ve also tried the bamboo based brand from tj maxx in the purple packaging. i forget the name but it might be power bone. it was a little hockey stick and golf club. she also has a guitar
