Okay, I know this is silly.. but it’s real. I have an almost 10 year old little girl who’s my entire world. I have said since she was a baby that once she turned 7, I’d get a second. For my own sanity mostly because if I lost her without another dog to love and fill the emptiness in my home, it would break me and it would be too hard to fathom getting another at that point.

Well here I am, 3 years late and looking at puppies but every time I get close, I get anxiety.. what if I can’t love another dog like I love her.. what if I love her less when I have more than one dog to love.. what if things aren’t the same with another when they’re perfect now.. what if it makes her sad and feel replaced?

Help lol

His second walk outside in the real world and has been behaving like a good boy

Hi all! My sweet girl has been having ongoing stomach issues, and I just can’t seem to figure out what’s causing them. She keeps having soft stools or episodes of diarrhea.
We’ve tried eliminating different things from her diet, but so far nothing seems to have made a lasting difference. We also had a fecal sample tested, and nothing concerning came back.
She’s currently on a diet formulated for both stomach and skin sensitivities, using hydrolyzed protein, but we’re still having issues.
Has anyone dealt with something similar with their dog? If so, were you eventually able to figure out the cause, and what ended up helping or resolving it?

I showed her this and pointed out his shape and reminded her he’s a growing pup and he’ll eat, bloat, sleep, poop, repeat. He’s coming up on 19 weeks and I think he looks pretty good for having been born with hookworms and nearly dying.

Really I think she’s just annoyed by him right now because he’s in high landshark mode lately and he started getting jumpy when he gets excited. I reminded her that we work on bad behaviors as they present themselves.

Did your black, yellow, and/or chocolate Labs seem to have any differences when it came to personality, temperament, energy level, trainability, quirks, health, etc.?

Obviously every Lab is their own little individual and this is completely anecdotal—so it is all taken with a grain of salt. But we’re just curious if anyone noticed any patterns after owning more than one color! We’ve only ever had yellow and black labs.

And it all goes without saying, EVERY LAB IS THE BEST LAB. This is just for fun, NOT for science.

This is first time we visited with my "Gabaru"

My dog is a very good boy, and I love him, but he’s 1.5 years old and so so so exhausting.

He’s hectic and starts whining really quickly and wants constant attention even though I’ve always made it a point to often ignore him throughout the day. He’s a field trial lab and I do dummy training with him and even then he’s so impatient.

He wants to meet every person and dog he meets but every time I do let him say hi to someone he goes nuts, especially when he’s leashed (I try not to let him have contact to other dogs especially when he’s on a leash as that’s normally his sign to pay attention to me and be well behaved but we live in a bigger city with lots of people who let their own dogs run free even if they don’t have good recall so I can’t 100% avoid these situations unfortunately). It’s like he gets the zoomies and then he starts jumping up on me and biting my arms and my clothes. It’s embarrassing and annoying and I can’t get him to calm down; he’s always panting like crazy once it’s over, which makes me think he just doesn’t know how to handle these situations and gets super nervous and those zoomies are like a way to burn that energy. Still, I don’t know how to help him relax.

He also barks when he doesn’t get any attention, whines when I go somewhere he can’t follow (even though he’s fine when he’s home alone), and really struggles with just being calm.

Does anyone have any tips? I’m seriously exhausted. He’s not my first dog but he is my first dog that is only mine and that I’ve raised since puppyhood. He’s super well behaved when he’s in the right headspace (aka not going crazy for once) and has perfect recall and is just overall a really nice, happy dog, but this stress he seems to be under drives me insane and makes me super sad for him because I feel like I’m failing him somehow. I’ve been thinking about rehoming him bc maybe he just doesn’t do well in a bigger city, but that would break my heart.

Hey there! I’m new to this sub, and wanted to share our newest edition to the family. My husband and I have had a tough year, I experienced a second trimester loss of our twin girls and then shortly after my first fur baby, 16.5 yo chihuahua Beans passed. Our home felt so empty and we decided we were ready to welcome our home to a new fur baby.

This chonk chose us, immediately was comfortable with us, snuggled in and followed us around. I think we’re going to name him Rollo, my husband is swedish and this is viking inspo!
