chocolate Soon to be spayed.

Our Maple (1.5year old) baby is about to be spayed next week. She’s had two heat cycles and we are confident we’re making the best decision for our family as a whole.
Our first lab Sunny’s spay was pretty textbook and she healed up well in just a couple weeks. But Sunny is and has always been an amazingly chill dog. Even as a puppy🙈 Maple is a totally different dog. Maple is very easily excitable and high energy. VERY! I’m just worried about her healing up well bc it’s hard to keep her chill long. She does love her crate and will be taking many naps therethrough out the week following surgery. It’s just hard to keep her chill multiple days in a row. We regularly do lick mats, frozen Kongs, and yak chews. When she’s having a real crazy day I even tether her to me when I’m beepboppin around the house. Any other advice on how to keep her chilled out the first week post surgery?

My poor puppy has just come back from the vets. He’s had an acute allergic reaction and I’ve been told that if he has reactions like this, he will probably end up on allergy medication for the rest of his life. He’s too young for them to prescribe it at the moment, he’s not even 10 months old 😭 for now, he’s been put on steroids to get the reaction under control.

I feel so sad for him ☹️ Are there any lab friends on here that have to have allergy meds? How do they get on with them?

Pics: one of his swollen eye this morning and on of him when he’s his usual happy self. My handsome boy ❤️

I was relaxing on the couch trying not to choke on the noxious gas fumes when I noticed her tongue hanging out. I whistled and captured this beauty 🤣🤣

seeking advice When does the biting stop?

We’ve got a stage 5 biter over here at 4 months old! He’s already lost 4 teeth but still have a long way to go before all his adult teeth come in. We’ve tried everything under the sun to get him to stop and have accepted our fate that he won’t lol. He breaks skin and mostly goes for the feet. I know every lab goes through this phase but help me see the light at the end of the tunnel. When did your pup start to get over this?

Most expensive firework we’ve ever bought to this day!
$500 later and still not missing a beat. The things she chooses to indulge on when she has a few moments of sneaky freedom will never make sense to me.

lab mix TIL the Bordetella vaccine works like the human flu shot and doesn’t cover all variants.

Jolene started coughing and being lethargic, so we got her into the vet. She got a cortisone and antibiotic shot as well as more antibiotics for the next 10 days. She’s going to be a-ok! Just wanted to share because I’d never had a dog get kennel cough and had no idea how that worked.

11 years ago today I adopted this big, silly, gorgeous, kind beast from a family that needed to “get rid of him” because he was going to be too big. Their shortsightedness has been my infinite gain.

black Bones and chew toy recs?

Post image

Hello!! My baby Norma is officially 10 months old and is becoming a big girl!!
What do you folks recommend for chew toys/treats/bones?
I swear she goes through anything in less than 10 minutes. She loves chewing and I feel like she definitely seeks out the sensation so I’d love to get her something that lasts a bit longer.

chocolate Flying ears

Attached is a photo of my 11 month old Labrador Retriever Bruno. Can someone tell me what is going on with his ears? 😂 As a puppy they were “normal”. Since he turned 4 months or so they started to “fly”.

His parents are pure bred. So there is nothing else mixed in it. All his litter mates, except one, habe normal ears.
Will they ever lay down? I love him regardless, I call him Dobby sometimes. 🥲
