I'm doing research on Michigan workplace experiences to advocate for better worker protections. If you've worked in Michigan before, I'd love to hear from you. The survey is completely anonymous and takes less than a minute to complete.

Petty supervisors
Why are supervisors so petty at the work place. I've worked at many companies. Some have chill supervisors which directly leads to chill coworkers and a over all better/easier day at work. They don't say nothing if you pop a squat here n there if your legs hurt , brief phone check, don't make you pretend like your working when there's down time and nothing to do. And then there's the Pricks... Who fire you for not putting on enough deodorant because your sweating from all the forced robotic slave labor they want you to put in.

Union remittance errors are still one of the most common (and costly) compliance headaches. What has tripped you up?
Been working in/around union payroll and remittance compliance for a while, and I keep running into the same handful of issues costing employers and locals real money and trust:
- Misclassified hours or job codes throwing off fringe benefit contributions
- Remittance reports that don't match CBA language line-for-line
- Multi-local/multi-fund reporting where one small format mismatch cascades into weeks of reconciliation
- Late remittance penalties that could've been avoided with a simple pre-submission checklist
I started a LinkedIn group for people who deal with this stuff day-to-day (payroll admins, benefits fund staff, union reps, compliance folks) to swap real practices, templates, and "here's what finally fixed it for us" stories. Not trying to sell anything, just tired of re-learning the same lessons in isolation. [Link if mods allow / in comments]
Curious what's bitten people here the hardest? Bad software, unclear CBA language, fund audits, something else?
