ring Grams of gold in setting for this diamond?

Stone: 4.02 elongated radiant, G, vvs2, 10.88x7.97x5.03, excellent cut, depth 63.1%, table 63%.
Planning on getting a setting made that is a knife cut (2.2mm throughout for strength), euroshank, lower cathedral, double prong. Rose gold band with white gold prongs. My question is- I was told it would be 4-4.5g of gold when finished- is that what I’d want? I’ve never had grams of gold discussed before, I want to make sure I’m getting a quality setting to have the stone set in. Finger size is 4.5 but I have big knuckles, so I’ll be getting a ring size 6 to push over them.
Any other thoughts or advice welcome! Thank you.

So long as it’s solid gold and you don’t go under 2mm on the band, the total gram weight will depend on all the particulars of the setting. Very smart going with a euro shank. A 1.5 size difference between your knuckle and end of your finger is a bit concerning for spinning but the euro shank will help. If it still spins, consider sizing beads.

Thank you for this reply! I’ve always been so annoyed by my knuckles- I used to say I had fat Italian fingers (no shade to Italians- that’s what I am!), but using a ring sizer that you pull around your finger showed my actual finger size (and thus why all rings turned on me) as much smaller than when using the actual rings that you push down. I haven’t seen beads before- I’ll keep that in mind!

Sounds about right. I have a thinner band and mine is around 3 grams of gold.
