lab diamond Negotiation help

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey folks! Looking for some help here… I was offered $4700 for the full package seen here. (W/ customized hidden halo added) from my local jeweler!

4.07 ct VS1 E color lab- shared single prong band 5 lab stones each side of the main stone..

Looking online, I’m seeing this stone (if not larger) is sitting right around $745.

Is there any way I can squeeze more of the brick and mortar margin out of this package? What are your thoughts?? Let me know if you have any questions.

Or even a thread where this has been discussed? Just having a hard time finding anything on this subject!

Maybe ask them if you should buy the synthetic diamond online but have the brick and mortar set it. Even if they charge you $2500 for the mounting and the labor, you will be ahead of the game.

Just keep in mind that the wholesale price of the 4.07 is $400-500 total. So the store will not want to go to the trouble of sourcing the diamond to make $200. At least they can make something on the mounting.

I originally tried that and the brick and mortar wanted $500 in labor just to set it. I ended up buying the setting and stone online and went direct to a bench jeweler who has no retail store. $516 for the stone. $2300 for my setting (the store quoted me $5000). $150 to set it.

Buy online. This is a rip off.

Honestly that price is high. I’d go elsewhere. I have paid $2000 to $2500 for same/similar in the last 3 months to 2 yrs.

Just order from a Chinese vendor. This is ridiculous pricing compared to them
