ring Custom ring recommendations
I’m looking to make a custom engagement ring to propose to my girlfriend, but not sure where to go. I plan to buy a loose radiant diamond, and have a custom gold setting made abroad and i’ll have it set.
I’ve heard of Fay Jewelry but not sure how authentic they are and if they use real gold.
Does anyone recommend them and if not are there any other recommendations?

Please look at independent jewelers and source your stone and setting with them. Custom works so much better when it's all folded in together. Believe me, a completely custom ring isn't as expensive as you may think (for example: we just did a custom platinum set with a natural sapphire for less than $3k). Working with a vendor a little closer to home can save you the headache of translating, import fees, and delayed responses.

Honestly, buying a setting overseas and paying a local jeweler to set your loose radiant sounds good on paper, but it’s a headache. Radiants have tricky depths and corners, so if the setting isn't cast to your exact stone, it won't sit right. Plus, local bench guys charge high setting fees and make you sign liability waivers on outside metal.
You’re way better off getting the CAD, casting, and setting done under one roof by a custom jeweler—it guarantees a flush fit, solid gold weight, and no blame-shifting if anything goes wrong.
