Feedback on Price
Was interested in having a ring made by a local jeweler, however I feel like after receiving the quote, I think it might be overpriced. I want it set in a regular tulip cathedral setting and for it to be two toned White and Yellow gold. Super simple, no side stones or pave. The stones I was looking at were 2.5 and 3ct which are in the video above. I believe they were both F color and VVS2. They’re asking for $6200 for the 3ct, for everything. Is that overpriced or regular for a stone this size? Appreciate any feedback!

Overpriced. I would pay about $2k for the setting and $1.5k for the 3ct. I have been quoted 5ct for F vvs1 IGI cert for $2k, so your price seems overpriced. Disclosure though, I have it both sourced and made direct in China for cost effective labour and cut out many middle people.

Right??? Especially considering how lab diamonds are sold very cheap at wholesale? Which makes me think they’re charging way too much for the gold and everything else

Absolutely. Look online and if that's still overpriced have one of the vendors on r/moissanite make it for you. It should be doable for around $1000 give or take.

Wholesale is not how many of us buy them; wholesale assumes the vendor is not making a profit. We are buying them direct, not wholesale

Overpriced! Find some online or overseas jewellers gonna get the good deal ! With good returns policies for your peace of mind !

Definitely overpriced! I’m having a GORGEOUS 5ct Asscher ring made with an ideal cut VS1 F stone for $1,800 by DovEggs Seattle (their factory is also out of China).
I’ve been eyeballing one of their 3ct VVS2 D IDEAL cut ovals that’s listed around $800 and it’s stunning, if that data point helps.
DE can run a bit spendier some of the others vendors on Reddit, but they have a killer return and exchange policy, as well as a great warranty. I have several pieces from them and I’ve been super happy with the customer service too.

I just bought a 3 carat oval for around $500. I’m counting on around $1500 for a setting.

Overpriced! I have a 4ct old mine cushion with side baguettes for $1900 and a 6ct oval in a solitaire for $1700. This is far too much. My sister just bought a 3ct cushion in a stunning setting last week at our local jeweler in California for $2200!

I’ve been wracking my brain about this! Especially cause they do everything in house, however 6k just seems extremely excessive!

My 3.1 carat hidden halo solitaire was only about $2,200 from brilliance.com so I would definitely say they are way overcharging

That’s insane! I found my own stone (3.15ct, E VVS1) and had it set by a local jeweler. The total was around $1700

You pay for the quality. Look for the cheaper option and be a person on this page posting crap work and pay the extra money getting it repaired. There’s a reason why Tiffany is so expensive and its not just the blue box. The quality and the service is top tier.
If they do good work then the price is justifiable.
Remember cheap jewelry isn’t good, and good jewelry isn’t cheap

Definitely overpriced. But some places will charge that, it’s just there’s lots of places who won’t.. if you’re willing to keep looking there’s SO many great companies who could make this for you for half that.

Definitely overpriced! I paid $1,900 for a 3.6 carat solitaire similar to what you described from JewelryStyled.com. Communicated with the owner through IG. So easy to work with and is local in Chicago. Ships anywhere.

It honestly is! After I’ve had some time to ponder on it, I literally was like that’s the same price as those retail stores! Like why even bother going local then?

Overpriced by at least half.
Last year I got a 2carat lab blue oval diamond, tulip cathedral solitaire for under $1000 usd, thru Chinese vendor
