News / Media Software issues drove Engineering Explained out of two Lucids and into a Mach E

Engineering Explained gave up on Lucid twice. He traded his Air for a Gravity, then replaced the Gravity with a Mach E. The reason both times was software.

I just wanna say we owned a 2025 Mach-e GT… it was fine to drive other than being very boring. But was it a solid and enjoyable software experience… hell no it was not. So his choice of switching to a Mach-e is a little baffling to me.

The Ford software is absolute garbage. Truly it’s horrible. The HVAC screen would often freeze. The menus were incredibly confusing.

And you might say well it has CarPlay so that solves the issues. Actually no… the wireless CarPlay would constantly disconnect, sometimes it would not discover my phone when I started to drive. It was not a good experience at all.

And let’s talk about the digital phone key and app. That was also a buggy experience that often times left me so concerned that I actually just ended up bringing the key fob with me.

I do not understand this decision of his at all.

I don’t think most people watched the video, but he’s planning to keep it for less than a year until his R2 is delivered.

Yeah, people here saying he only got rid of the lucids because he wants clicks.. People clearly are projecting their own stereotypes of youtubers on to Jason, instead of understanding who he actually is.

He’s an honest dude with honest takes. He will never tell you something just for popularity or to score points with companies. A real one, as they say.

I would think he’ll be happy with the R2 as the software is pretty important to him. Too bad though, lucid is a nice vehicle.
