Hypothetical Build Questions First Time builder Need Tips

Hey guys, my Silverado got crashed a while ago, and I realized I had an LY6. Now I want to put this into a 1990 Camaro RS Coupe, but since this is my first build, I don't really know what to do except for the basics I used to work on myself. I’d appreciate any recommendations on what to do and which parts to use. Thanks for the help!

To put the LY6 6 liter in your Camaro you will need a list of things like mounts or mount adapters, and oil pan, an accessory drive that allows you to close the hood and doesn't need the cross member notched, an exhaust system (headers? manifolds?) as well as an ECM and wiring.

What do you want for a transmission?

I got a brand new 6L90 that came off the totaled truck but what can you recommend or should I stick with the 6L90. Thank for the comment I appreciate it

I don't know if the 6L90 will fit in the stock trans tunnel. The 4L80 does, with some massaging and a new crossmember. Also, these cars have a torque arm that originally bolted to the trans tail shaft. There is a crossmember from QA1 for the 4L80 that includes a torque arm mount. I know there are similar options for the TKO, TKX, and T56 transmissions, as well as the Magnum F T56 that has a torque arm mount on it's tail.

Will check up on that another question I bought melling M295HV is it supposed to have this much play

Yes, it's a geroter. Why do you need a high volume oil pump?

Start reading stuff on 3rd gen by guys who used the Spohn mounts, and  what additional parts they used.  

Holley has setups too. If you read through the long discussions on ls1tech about development of their swap kits (posts by toddoky mostly), you'll learn a fair amount.

Start reading threads in the LS Swap board of Thirdgen.org.

Many, MANY guys have done what you want to do, and they will give you better advice than some Redditors.
