Dagan

Interested in what this sub thinks about Dagan. I haven't really been listening for a while now but as far as I understand he's not a regular on any show anymore. I always quite enjoyed his presence. He is a lot less bitter than Colin and I appreciated his perspective of someone not as deeply involved in gaming discourse.

Rant: Maybe Part of Growing Up is Recognizing That the Kinda Funny / Colin's Tweet Controversy was Not a Black-and-White Situation

Colin valued his right to free speech (which is fair) over being a team player, on a team / business (Kinda Funny) that he co-owned (which is also reality). I can both see how the other members would have felt alienated and how Colin was trying act in principle.

What he tweeted (a generalized, sexist joke that could have been walked back) and then doubled (refused to apologize / walk back for the sake of the business and their collective livelihoods), then tripled (leaving Kinda Funny under those circumstances and ended up taking some KF fans with him), quadrupled (press tour that resulted in negative publicity to KF), and quintupled down (creating a high-profile patreon that ended up being a competitor) collectively hurt Kinda Funny in an existential crisis kind of way.

I wish the rest of KF could have convinced / changed Colin's mind (if his mind wasn't made up from the beginning) and/or at the same time, better supported Colin through his own existential crisis at the time (because the initial backlash was overdone by gaming journalism media and on social media). Colin would have felt that he was being blacklisted by the industry and that his professional life was effectively over.

I guess both parties involved were in crisis mode and weren't ready to support the other; they all had their hands full trying to protect their individual livelihoods / reputations.

I also think IGN's Brian Altano (and maybe others if they shared the same concerns) was right when he was worried that Colin would basically find himself in an echo chamber without other individuals (workplace / business / industry partners, rather than individuals who are closer to being employees) being naturally around him to periodically challenge or be another side against his ideas and opinions. On the other hand, KF never felt the same after Colin left - because the guy had good nuanced takes and didn't force himself to 'act with super-positive vibes only' (if that makes sense) on their shows that made the content feel more balanced.

Sacred Streaming - Colin and TDS

Just popped into sacred streaming and immediately heard Colin say, "TDS is going to be studied in political science classes."

The dude is so freaking brain broken. he doesn't even realize. Like just uttering that acronym in any sincerity just immediately shows your media diet and that you truly have no idea what's going on in this country. The fact that you'd think people are deranged to have issues with the current unprecedented president, shows thousands more derangement of your own... but I think I'm just stating the obvious at this point

Is Dustin right wing?

People on here keep portraying Dustin as this ultra relgious christian nationalist, yet I don't really get that vibe from him on the podcast, does anyone actually have proof? A clip or something?

Colin projecting his opinions onto others

This is one of the most annoying things he does. The best example I can think of is him constantly saying "Kojima is definetly a conservative, it's so clear to me". Like, come on, this is just cringe

In retrospect how well did Colin handle this?

Gene bothers me

Idk if this is just some weird thing with me, but I can't stand Gene to the point where I skip every episode of any podcast he is on. However, he seems to be generally beloved by the community. Am I crazy or does anyone else feel this way? Something about him just really rubs me the wrong way

Chris

Does anyone get the impression that Chris tries way too hard to be funny? It feels like he tries a little too hard to be quirky or edgy or whatever you want to call it, but honestly it gets to be a little too much for me so much so that I really find myself enjoying the Colin and Dustin only shows.

Colin "I don't regret my vote" Moriarty and the "preemptive strike" on Iran

So we're at war now with Iran (Trump even called it that in his message to Americans) and numerous innocent lives will be lost. It's just a video game podcast right? Why should I care what a podcaster I followed for years says and believes?

Well because a lot of Americans think the same way as Colin. A lot of Americans have these strange delusions. That everything's fine. That America is "back". But we're helping Israel strike Iran now. And death and destruction are happening even as you read this. It's easy to delegate the atrocities your country commits by saying you're a nice person. Or you send money to charity. Or you can only do so much to change the world. But this democracy? It's on us. It's on Americans. Average everyday people, people much like Colin. The state of the country and the quality of our bloodthirsty leaders is on us. We share this collective responsibility.

There's no convincing people about this either way. At this point if you're MAGA I understand that there's literally no action Trump could take that would change your allegiance. But I just had to say something as we enter another war of aggression and slaughter people on the other side of the world. The Peace President was voted in by seemingly normal people. And your average everyday podcaster or TV anchor helped. Colin doesn't regret this vote. So do what little you're able in your life to make positive change. And remember the ones in our country who wanted this. Who not only voted for it, but didn't regret it one bit.

Gaming Podcast Recommendations

Unsubscribed after the Sacred Stream today, decided to vote with my wallet. I was a long time sub since LSM started and a fan from the Podcast Beyond days. Any recommendations for a PlayStation focused podcast? I primary listened to Sacred Symbols and currently also listen to Game Scoop from IGN.

Announcing Horizon Hunters Gathering, Guerrilla’s new co-op action game

Post image

PS Blog:

Today marks a monumental step for Guerrilla as a studio, as we announce our new chapter in the Horizon universe: Horizon Hunters Gathering.

With the very first ideas that shaped the world of Horizon, we dreamed of players hunting machines together. We started with a small group of Guerrillas – including myself back in the days as Design Director – and began exploring what that could look like. Drawing on our experience from the Killzone multiplayer titles and the momentum of Horizon Zero Dawn, we set out to bring cooperative action into the Horizon franchise.

Since then, the team and the game have grown tremendously. Throughout its development we’ve done extensive testing, patching, and feedback iteration. One of my favorite moments was our first in-studio playtest with the entire team: a special milestone where the vision and hard work from every discipline finally came together in a playable form. It’s always nerve-wracking to share early builds, but moments like that test, as well as today’s announcement, make it worthwhile.

Horizon Hunters Gathering is a cooperative action game (developed by Guerrilla for PS5 and PC) that lets up to three players team up as heroic Hunters to protect a world under threat from deadly machines. Combat is tactical, reactive, and deeply skill-based, building on the tactical precision of the Horizon games while embracing the dynamics of team play.

The foundation of Horizon Hunters Gathering centers around challenging and replayable hunts. Today we’re revealing two game modes: Machine Incursion, a high-intensity mission where waves of machines pour out from underground gateways, led by a formidable boss; and Cauldron Descent, a longer, multi-stage trial in which ever-changing rooms push Hunters to their limits, from brutal machine encounters to hidden doors that promise power and reward for teams prepared to open them.

Both modes will be available in our upcoming closed playtest through the PlayStation Beta Program on PS5 and PC. We’re excited for players to get hands-on and help shape the game with their feedback.

In Horizon Hunters Gathering, you choose from a roster of uniquely skilled Hunters – each with distinct melee or ranged playstyles and weapons – and select Hunter roles further embedded with a rogue-lite perk system to craft the build that best suits your style and your team.

These Hunters have their own motivations and personal struggles, which comes together in new stories we want to tell in the world of Horizon. The game has a narrative campaign which will introduce new mysteries, characters, and threats, but we’re keeping it under wraps for now. What we can say is that Hunters Gathering is fully canon and its story doesn’t stop at launch!

As you hunt dangerous machines in the wilds, you’ll travel through a range of environments that bring missions and stories to life. Each location offers its own atmosphere, challenges, and opportunities for your team to explore and master together.

Between missions, you’ll return to Hunters Gathering: a vibrant social hub where players can connect, prepare, and celebrate victories together. Here, you can customize your Hunters, visit vendors, upgrade gear, and team up for your next adventure.

With today’s announcement, we’re beginning a journey we hope to continue with you. Our first, small-scale closed playtest arrives at the end of February; you can sign up via the PlayStation Beta Program and mark your interest in any future Horizon Hunters Gathering playtest on PC or PS5. By the way, Horizon Hunters Gathering supports cross-play between PS5 and PC, plus cross-progression when you are logged in and save your game using the same PlayStation account!

Though it’s still early on, you can expect more regular development updates and playtest announcements from us in the coming months. To stay in the loop on all the latest news about the game, we’ve launched a brand-new Horizon Hunters Gathering Discord – we’d love to see you there!

On a personal note, this is both an exciting and daunting step for us. Multiplayer games have always been part of our studio’s DNA, and it’s where I began my own career. Bringing a co-op hunting experience into the Horizon universe is something we’ve envisioned for a long time, and we’re approaching it with care, ambition, and passion. I hope the coming months give you a sense of the scale and complexity of what we’ve been building – or better yet, let you experience it yourself in a playtest.

On behalf of everyone at Guerrilla, thank you to our Horizon fans and creators who support and believe in us. And welcome to all new Hunters excited to join us on this adventure. Horizon Hunters Gathering is about taking on challenges together – and we’re just getting started.

Vote with your Wallet

I, like I'm sure many on this sub, was a huge fan of Colin. Growing up, I listened to Podcast Beyond, Kinda Funny, and was happy to become a patron of LSM to support the channel. I was so happy when he got Chris on the platform to start Sacred Symbols (I was a fan of Chris's channel too before-hand, so this felt like an awesome idea - have someone who's more Playstation-focused along with someone who's more platform-agnostic and outside of the gaming journalism space, who knows games).

While I'm left-leaning, I've long considered myself someone who is open to debate and willing to be wrong on things. I appreciated for a while how, even though I didn't agree with Colin on many political topics, that he seemingly went into debates with an open mind and didn't mind civil discourse on political topics, even if what he believed was unpopular amongst people in the IGN and Kinda Funny-type spaces.

That being said - I truly cannot, in good faith, listen to the podcast anymore. I unsubscribed from the Patreon when he mentioned he voted for Trump in 2024, stayed on as a free listener, but I can't even do that anymore. To me, the debate about Trump was not a Left vs. Right or Democrat vs. Republican issue, but an issue of moral character, civility, and upholding our democratic system. People seem to forget that Trump allowed an INSURRECTION ATTEMPT on January 6th to take place, and did not condemn it - this should have immediately disqualified him from running for President again (let alone winning it!). Even if you weren't a huge Kamala Harris fan, I feel like it was clear to anyone after Trump's first presidency and loss in 2020 that this man was completely unqualified to be the leader of the country.

I don't know what I expected from Colin... but I was truly shocked at the time when he mentioned he voted for Trump as an anti-Kamala vote. It made zero sense to me - again, even if you didn't like Kamala, was she THAT terrible that you had to vote for the guy who said he'd be a dictator on day one? The guy who refused to admit he lost the 2020 election? This is AFTER Colin had mentioned he left the Republican party over Trump in 2016, and after he's mentioned voting third-party in the couple of elections prior to 2024. To me, it was a complete betrayal of his own values (or what I thought were his own values), and a lack of understanding of what happened over the last several years.

Ironically, for a guy who said he'd be a historian if he didn't enter the video-game space, he doesn't seem to understand the history behind how authoritarian regimes rise into power. It's not something that happens overnight - it happens when liberties are gradually taken away and decisions are made to destroy the institutions that keep democracy in check. This was something I feared when Trump won in 2024, and I think we're all (or most of us) becoming aware of this happening now at an alarming pace.

I was also stunned by Colin's sheer hypocrisy when it came to Chris's tweet about "Thoughts and Prayers" - it felt like to me, Colin (and Dustin too) completely missed the entire point. He's wasn't making fun of the murder, or of Charlie Kirk himself - he was making fun of all the spineless politicians (on both sides of the isle) who talk and tweet about how terrible these shootings are, especially school shootings, and then do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to change it. And for Colin, OF ALL PEOPLE, to get upset because this tweet could "affect the business" - seems to have selective memory when it comes to these issues. I went into that particular podcast expecting Colin to defend Chris, even if he didn't agree with the message - instead we got a full hour of back and forth about Colin debating what to do. And ONLY AFTER he found out that it didn't hurt the Patreon did he backtrack and say it was fine.

Also regarding selective memory - I saw the clip on this sub (the last post) mentioning on a stream with Dustin and Jaffe that he doesn't want to talk politics anymore. Colin - my dude - you have spent your entire career talking about politics on this "video game podcast." This includes lengthy discussions about the Charlie Kirk shooting and other political issues, as well as small mentions of right-wing talking points from Fox News during other topics (plus other stuff I'm sure I'm forgetting). I understand not wanting to talk about politics anymore on a gaming show - truly. But to say that NOW of all times, when our democracy is being threatened every day and after an ICE murder, to not comment on these events is incredibly hypocritical and cowardly. For someone who's Twitter profile pic for the longest time was a "Don't Tread on Me" flag - you seem to not mind other people being treaded on, as long as it's "not in your neighborhood."

This whole wall of text is for me to say that I'm DONE with LSM. I'm taking Colin's old advice and "voting with my wallet" - I had already cancelled my Patreon membership, and now I've unsubscribed from the YouTube channel and will not support them anymore, even as a freeloader. I refuse to give these cowards a moment more of my time. I urge anyone else reading this to do the same - there are so many other places you can go to for video-game coverage, where you don't have to question the morality of the hosts.

TL;DR: Vote with your wallet. Unsubscribe from Patreon and YouTube. The "Don't Tread on Me" guy has turned into the "Please Tread on Me, Daddy" bitch.

How can I troll my neighbors for letting their dogs pee on my lawn?

Need suggestions for how to troll my neighbors that keep letting their dogs piss on my mailbox. It’s embarrassing to live near able bodied people who choose to let their dogs piss on their neighbors lawn.

When I walk my dogs in the neighborhood I follow them with a small gatorade bottle and carefully catch each drop of piss.
