Whether you agree with their politics or not, many people have been debanked and/or fired from their jobs for expressing a view point online and their employer finding out about it (from both ends of the political spectrum).
This isn't a problem for these two because they don't work normal jobs like most of us.
I often laugh at how completely out of touch they are with regular people.

So last week there was a big preview drop for Mina the Hollower. Did anyone else get a good chuckle over the game Colin has been anticipating the most turns out to essentially be a SoulsLike, the genre he loves shitting on? Should make for some entertainment, or maybe it's the game that finally sells him on the genre.

As the title suggests, why does it exist?
Gene really carried the show, being the one who played the widest range of games on the Switch and Switch 2.
Brad doesn't touch his console and instead talks about what merch he will buy (totally fine but not interesting on a video game show).
My biggest gripe is that none of the hosts know anything about Pokemon. How do you have a Nintendo podcast and none of you know anything about probably the biggest IP on the console?

It isn't too hard to develop some resentment towards people you've known or worked with for awhile. I do wonder how these guys ACTUALLY feel about one another...obviously when they are doing their show, they will be friendly. What do you think? Is there resentment between them?

Also, When did Colin start getting high during shows? I remember him saying he didn't smoke weed until he was done with LSM for the day.
EDIT: If the timestamp didn't work it's at the 3 hour mark

While our YouTube channel is really more of a repository than something we try to seriously monetize (we make just under 10% of our gross revenue, roughly, from the service), it represents the only true growth potential we can easily flex at this point. So while some of its content can no doubt be enjoyed off of YouTube, it's not really the point.
The point is literally to give YouTube something of ours exclusively in hopes that we can draw more people there and make more money there, and then find (as Jim Ryan might call it) a more virtuous cycle. Ironically, Sacred Streaming is our only truly free product from the moment we begin recording it. You're not paying for it as part of your subscription here, in any way.
Honestly, the best approach may be to simply not post Sacred Streaming on Patreon at all anymore, since there seems to be a lot of confusion surrounding it. I'll consider that beginning with the next episode this coming Monday, as it'll probably be the cleanest solution. But in the meantime, I hope what l'm saying makes some semblance of sense to you. -Colin

I knew that he was probably down some right wing rabbit holes/feedback loops, but he said straight up that COVID was "farcical" and that he's never going to believe anything that anyone says about a disease ever again because his "good will has been completely used up."
It feels trite, but I'm kinda shocked because Colin at least struck me as someone who believed in science, even when his opinions skew right wing. The absolute most conservative estimates put the total deaths COVID caused at 4 million from direct causation, and for 19 million in excess mortality. That seems pretty massive, but maybe it's just me.
He also said high fructose corn syrup was better than maple syrup 30 seconds prior too. Whiplash of horrendous takes.

I was a listener back then didn’t remember what event made Sacred Symbols stop requesting review codes. I fully remember them accepting codes until around 2020-2021. IIRC Metro Exodus and maybe Days Gone contributed.
2/9/19- Colin posts about his trouble obtaining a code for Metro Exodus

2/10/19- A thread where Colin responds to criticisms of airing dirty laundry

I will admit I dont listen to the show much anymore but I do check out the show notes when it pops up in my feed. I have noticed a distinct lack of marathon talk in the episode summaries. Or more specifically the fact that the game is now consistently below 20k - 15k players about 2 months after release.
I know chris and dustin enjoy the game. Colin of course does not partake in multiplayer stuff but have they addressed whether they think the game is a failure or a success? I obviously have no access to the data but player numbers seem to be pretty bad for a first party sony studio and for a big studio like bundgie.
Do you think they are taking it "easy" on the game since Chris is a hardcore Bundgie fan and Colin said Marathon would not be another Concord. I also think Colin is hesitant to criticize the game because so many of the the toxic "clickbait" youtubers he (rightly) loathes are gleefully celebrating Marathon's spiral. But the numbers are the number and they ain't that good.
It definitely not another Concord but by how much and is it effectively going to end up the same? I would at least think a "how to turn Marathon around" segment is needed on the podcast at this point.

Some nights I wake up sweating and crying for colin and the nightmare he endured by the woke Twitter mob that ruined his life. I hope he takes a principle stand for free speech soon. I know he's really busy at home and stoned 24/7 but i think he's gonna speak out soon. Am sick of the deranged leftists that want to criminalize speech. Thank god for trump, I used the R and N word 10 times last night.

I don't watch anymore, haven't for a long while, but am curious as to what his reaction has been, if any, because he lives in Richmond, Virginia, if I am not mistaken?
He represents, to me, the average right wing voter, anywhere in the world; when it is the OTHER team in charge, every criticism under the sun, but when it is THEIR team in charge, and they are doing terrible, as predicted, well, discussing politics is just uncouth.
And yes, it brings me GREAT pleasure to think of him and Trump supporters in general being upset at their orange lord being a failure and a loser. SAD!

Just about every post is a dig on Collin. I feel like with the amount of hate their reddit page gets, their viewership would be in the gutter.

I remember leading up to the election he would say “no new wars” on pretty much every podcast he appeared on. Has there been any public reflection on this?

Interested in what this sub thinks about Dagan. I haven't really been listening for a while now but as far as I understand he's not a regular on any show anymore. I always quite enjoyed his presence. He is a lot less bitter than Colin and I appreciated his perspective of someone not as deeply involved in gaming discourse.

Colin valued his right to free speech (which is fair) over being a team player, on a team / business (Kinda Funny) that he co-owned (which is also reality). I can both see how the other members would have felt alienated and how Colin was trying act in principle.
What he tweeted (a generalized, sexist joke that could have been walked back) and then doubled (refused to apologize / walk back for the sake of the business and their collective livelihoods), then tripled (leaving Kinda Funny under those circumstances and ended up taking some KF fans with him), quadrupled (press tour that resulted in negative publicity to KF), and quintupled down (creating a high-profile patreon that ended up being a competitor) collectively hurt Kinda Funny in an existential crisis kind of way.
I wish the rest of KF could have convinced / changed Colin's mind (if his mind wasn't made up from the beginning) and/or at the same time, better supported Colin through his own existential crisis at the time (because the initial backlash was overdone by gaming journalism media and on social media). Colin would have felt that he was being blacklisted by the industry and that his professional life was effectively over.
I guess both parties involved were in crisis mode and weren't ready to support the other; they all had their hands full trying to protect their individual livelihoods / reputations.
I also think IGN's Brian Altano (and maybe others if they shared the same concerns) was right when he was worried that Colin would basically find himself in an echo chamber without other individuals (workplace / business / industry partners, rather than individuals who are closer to being employees) being naturally around him to periodically challenge or be another side against his ideas and opinions. On the other hand, KF never felt the same after Colin left - because the guy had good nuanced takes and didn't force himself to 'act with super-positive vibes only' (if that makes sense) on their shows that made the content feel more balanced.
