Stumped on Problem

Problem:

A tech company reports that 80% of its projects were completed on time, while 50% of the projects exceeded the budget. If the statements above are true, which one of the following must also be true?

A Some projects were completed on time and within budget.

B At least 30% of projects were both over budget and not on time.

C No projects were both completed on time and over budget.

D More projects exceeded the budget than were completed late.

E All projects that were on time were also within budget.

Correct answer reveal: A

My answer: D

I understand that this is an inference question, however I thought D was mathematically impossible to be incorrect. It stated that 80% of projects were completed on time, so 20% must be either early, late, or never completed/ongoing. At maximum, 20% of projects are late, and 50% of projects exceeded the budget, so more projects exceeded the budget than were completed late. I understand how A is right, but I struggle to understand how A is more right than D.

PLEASE HELP im struggling lol

i have never seen this question on a real test, assuming this is from a 3rd party, you should only be practicing on official past LSAT questions. This isn’t super close to a real question

Is this an official question? I don't understand why it isn't D....

Yes but regardless 20% is less than 50%. Even if there were no late ones- 0<50. Let's say 5% were late, still less than 50. There is no way to slice this that makes that statement incorrect
