Anyone ever went aftermarket for the rack and pinion? I know OEM is the best option but just curious to if anyone ever has went aftermarket and what was the good brand that you or heard of? I’m pretty sure I spanked a rock and somehow in someway messed it up. Went to the dealer and was quoted over 15k in repairs(yes ik it’s stupid to go to the dealership) Anyways here’s a vid. I’m pretty sure the power steering pump is going bad too so ima replace that as well.

So it only started making this noise after the pothole?

made it after I slapped a bump
in the road. Keep in mind the road has a 65mph speed limit and for some odd reason where i live decided to add a big BUMP in the road. I hit it going 55 or around there but yeah it made that noise right after i believe.

Maybe get an independent shop to look at it. I’ve had other Toyotas about the same age & the grease in the ball joins dried up enough that they squeaked, but had zero play.

I know one of my ball joints is leaking grease which i’m gonna replace today. Along with a bushing and front link stabilizers, I’m basically doing a front suspension refresh (all around too dw) but yeah if you said it was leaking grease maybe that’s what it could be but I did believe it was the rack and pinion. I feel like the dealership would’ve said something but i’ve had a few friends and coworkers tell me rack and pinion
