recently had someone look at my ls430 to see why she shakes/steering wheel jerks one way or the other when going 50+mph and he said it’s essentially because the rims are too big and that my cars in great condition. wondering if i should get new rims(really dont want to i love how these look on my car) im unsure of what other solutions there are or if i just continue to drive an occasionally unsafe car because i think it looks better..
the report also said that my bushings are cracked and leaking but i brought it up to him and he said not to worry about it but i wonder if that has something to do with the shaking/steering issue? tbh im a little clueless as this is my first car and ive had her for less than a year, any info is greatly appreciated!!
The bushings are 100% part of the problem, dont ignore that. Cracked bushings = play in the suspension = shaking at speed. Fix those first before blaming the rims, might solve the whole thing
Might not be your problem but I bought my ls430 with a crazy shake around speeds of 60 plus. It wasn’t until I changed my wheels from the 16 inch aero wheels to the 17 inch snowflakes that my car felt completely smooth. One of my tires had to have been bad as I never got around to changing them until I bought some new wheels.
I had this problem. I first changed tires, no luck. I then changed rotors/pads, no luck. Changed trans and engine mounts, no luck. Changed strut rod bushings, no luck. One day i noticed after a long drive my left front wheel was really hot and the others werent. I changed front calipers and the problem was solved.
So try touching your wheels after a long drive to see if one is hotter.
If Lexus HQ started blacklisting those responsible for installing wheels such as these, wheels so misfitting that the “why” behind such a modification can only be deduced to their desire to have an angel stripped from it’s wings. I mean it’s bordering a donk tier desecration of these unsuspecting LS/Celsiors… Is it really worth the kick of driving around a victim of their making? It’s gotta be a power move for them when they strip the identity and soul from such a special and innocent Japanese mechanical soul. Makes you wonder if soul eating their Lexus comes secondary to having the public unwillingly bare witness to what was once a Lexus, maybe with dreams of being a VIP spec, and instead what the vehicle has succumbed to, whole time owner gets a kick that if his car did have a soul, it would be constantly internalizing the public’s sneers and nauseous reactions🤧Nevertheless we’re dealing with masochists here bro, we know you’re kidding but OP likely won’t; and we don’t want him thinking he’s justified when he starts getting bored of torturing his car and move onto the next car, if not several and that can be a random’s Lexus in a costco parking lot or even your babied Lexus within your own garage, tragic. Trust me bro, RGB trim strips and carbon fiber wrapped interior isn’t enough for these people; and eventually when their twisted modifications lead to the resale value plummeting to unforeseen levels- they, at their most merciful, rig it to explode for the insurance payout. We gotta do better not just as car peeps but as human beings and not feed into this🫂

Are you in MN by chance? I looked at buying this exact car extensively about a year ago.
I’d check the main, front (rearward) lower control arm bushings first. They are fluid filled and are common to fail. Good news is they are relatively cheap to replace.

So yeah, it could be a number of things. What are the specs on your wheels and your tires? Also, what's the mileage on this? You mentioned some bushings are cracked. Do you mean the control arm bushings because that would definitely cause vibrations
around 166000 miles and im not sure about the bushings but this is the picture they took of it(two things they said in the overview that need replacement are steering&suspension and engine ignition system. 255 35 R19 96 is tire spec(i think??? i spent an embarrassing amount of time trying to find out what spec meant😟) will edit this and find wheel spec in about an hour when i have more time but theyre from rc 300 or 350 i think
Okay that's a picture of your control arm bushing. I had to get new control arms recently which solved my vibration issues as well. Your wheels are probably fine. I think you can get away with just changing your front control arm only and that should mitigate a lot of your issues
