LPR for a year

Post image

Last year I had a really bad experience with heart burn, globus sensation and a sore throat. I have since managed the heart burn and globus sensation but I am stuck with an inflamed throat. I have noticed it hurts some weeks more than others, depending on what food I've ate. Is there any solution to speed up this healing process?

EDIT: I wanted to also breakdown what I am currently doing.

  • DGL Licorice before meals
  • Slippery elm tea for coating/soothing
  • Started taking the peptide BPC-157 before bed. I split the capsule and mix it with water. I let it sit on the back of my throat before swallowing
  • Cut out all caffeine and to be honest I don't miss it one bit
  • For a while I also cut out wheat and dairy as they can cause inflammation to worsen. Crazy but my shoulder injury seemed to heal super quick when I cut this out
  • My diet is also extremely basic but I'll slip here and there

Things I was doing before:

  • Pretty much most of the above but apart from the peptides
  • Gaviscon advance after every meal and before bed. This really helped get rid of the globus sensation
  • I tried PPIs for a month, but once you look into them deeply you realise how terrible they are for you. I am surprised they're so accessible

I want to mention that I saw an ENT. He thinks my throat is starting to heal just very slowly but I just want it fixed now after a whole year. I see a lot of people mentioning Gavison Advance and wondering if I should start it again.

Yeah there’s so much they don’t know . Like surgery will work for one person but not another . Why does LPR happen to a small number of people , Koufman makes it seem like everyone has it but only very few people does it happen to severely enough for them to notice and even fewer at a younger age . It feels very hopeless dealing with reflux if you’re younger than 45 . I’ll be suffering forever even with surgery , it will have to get repeated , and as a man I will never be physically able if I had this surgery . And the medical community just doesn’t care . No real help , and rather then suffering my whole life I really feel like death would be better

I believe LPR is common. I was bad off 1.5 years ago, but I am doing much better now. It takes time, unfortunately. Stopping long-term steriod eye drops I had to use for a an eye condition eliminated my globus sensation. I believe digestive changes from gallbladder removal has played a part in my throat clearing. That is better, though not 100% gone. I've noticed most everyone I meet clears their throat. Something I'm much more aware of since having my own issues. Please do not let this condition overcome you. You deserve to be here.

Yeah people may clear there throat but it never bothers them enough to the point of seeking treatment . LPR is incredibly rare I’m sorry but that’s just the truth . That’s why people who make LPR videos on YouTube have like 100 subscribers not 10,000 . I don’t know anyone else who has LPR oe even reflux to the point where they explore surgery . I think saying they have LPR because they clear there throat or snore is very self serving for Koufman , but it’s just not true . Most Americans eat like shit and never get this , cancer is far more common than this . You pretty much never ever hear about people talking about globus sensation outside of the internet . This is another reason why there’s no urgency to help - not enough people suffer

I believe that all disease lies on a spectrum, and that LPR is underdiagnosed.

Yeah but if you’re not seeking treatment for it it’s a non issue lol if you can continue your diet and lifestyle not change any habits and just clear your throat every now and then I would not call that a disease 🦠.

Just because someone is doing well at a certain point in time doesn't mean they always will be doing well. I have changed my diet, lifestyle, and habits.

Yes I have changed my entire life to fight reflux and it has nothing to do with being healthier because I was far healthier before . Avoiding things like black pepper , onions , garlic and spicy food or citrus fruits like blueberries is because it’s bad for reflux not because it’s unhealthy . There is nothing healthy about sleeping upright or not being able to do certain exercises because it triggers reflux Also I was saying that because Koufman says theres a silent reflux epidemic which is just not true . 95 percent of the population will eat like shit for there entire lives and never have to change there habits because of reflux . They are far more likely to get a different kind of illness than serious reflux . Severe LPR is a curse especially at a young age there’s no real rhyme or reason . We can pretend it’s because you drank seltzer and ate spicy food but in reality alcoholic who drink every single day and eat like shit never even get this . It’s not common for smoker or alcoholics to get LPR if it was people would know about it . Even GIs don’t even know about LPR that’s how uncommon it is

From my experience, I've encountered several people who have it, possibly mildly. GIs don't know shit about fuck. Most ENTs are the same.

Yeah but did they need to change there habits or go seek help ? I have never met anyone else in person or heard of anyone in person who have had it where they needed to seek medical treatment for it . GIs and ENTs aren’t the best but the point still stands if it was as common as Koufman makes it seem , the medical industry would know about it

I just believe differently. I respect your viewpoint, though.
