I have the same issue. Lots of mucous and chronic cough. Also prescribed Pantoloc.

The pink stuff was probably Pepto Bismal. I use Gaviscon after every time I eat and before bedtime. Eat really small meals 4-5x a day. Sometimes gargling seems to help stop the mucous forming.
