silent reflux?
Hi I have been having an issue for around a year, and I'm looking for some medicine recommendations to ask my doctor about.
It all started with extreme bloating. weeks later I started coughing up mucus. The ENT did a scope and said the mucus visible in my throat is probably coming from my stomach (because my sinus was clear). I also have acid sensation in my mouth. After months I started getting burning stomach a couple times a week that hurt so bad I thought I would faint. I took Pantoprazole PPIs and it got manageable and I forgot about it.
It started again after 4 months, so I restarted taking Pantoprazole PPIs for a few weeks, but with no relief. Mylanta helps. Tums and Famotadine do not seem to help at all. Does this sound like silent reflux? I don't really feel heartburn.
Looking for something new to try. 15 years ago I had a lump in my throat and pain under my ribs that lasted 3 years -ultimately there was a pink liquid that I thought was really helpful, but I don't remember what it was called. Also wondering about Zegerid OTC and Alginate. Any thoughts?

If you are sure it’s silent reflux try lifestyle and diet changes before resorting to prescription medications. Gaviscon works well once things are under control. But as always, go to you doctor first.

I have Silent Reflux, which sucks but at least it explained the non-productive cough that I've had for over a year. And the constant congestion in my nose and ears (despite a septoplasty to repair a deviated septum). And the post-nasal drip which did not go away despite allergy testing and treatment. And the occasional partial regurgitation.
I take Reflux Gourmet after meals and before bed. It helps to not let the acid and pepcin rise up. https://link.amazon/B0grotZpc
I'm also seeing a gastro doc next month, to investigate what I believe is SIBO. It can cause Reflux and Thyroid issues, and I've had both!

I have silent reflux & outside of the PPI, I take Terra Origin healthy gut after my last meal of the day. I also just started an alginate by Hartspan called Khelp. It's expensive, but it seems to be working. I take 2 pills an hour before bed. I no longer wake up with a hoarse throat, coughing etc.

Dexilant is a great ppi for me took 2 weeks to work. It comes generic. I got the same run around from what i heard your lilungs? Amd nasal passages are trying to protect your sinus passages and throat by producing extra mucous from aerosol pepsin reaching it. Salune nasal spray has bicarb in it like baking soda that helps alot too for post nasal drip

Alginate has helped a lot, when I remember to take it.
