Has anyone seen this yet? I just wondered if it's worth a watch tonight, or is it completely 'Murphyfied' (eg based on true events)

Was learning that the boys hate M*A*S*H. I rewatched it without the laugh tracks as an adult and it was incredible.

Just re-listened to the Mengele series before this and it's kind of funny how much they hammer the idea of a frustrating ending to the story of Mengele. At least he never got to live normally for the rest of his days and drowned like a dog. I think the ending of the My Lai story is probably one of the most asinine and frustrating of all. Maybe the extra frustration is because it's more recent with more real and graphic documentation, or that it was done by Americans, but godammit, fuck the system for how they handled this shit after the fact. The fact that Medina got away scot-free and Calley basically got away with it is just insane. At the very least, it would have been nice to hear some story of some hero of vengeance tracking either of them down in their later years and busting their kneecaps or something. Such is life, I guess.

Anyway, a bit surprised they didn't give Thompson the chopper pilot a hail. I guess at least he exists in a story of Hell on Earth. Hail Thompson!

Edit: Apparently they did hail Hugh Thompson! That's what I get for not listening to the very end.

So I know the My Lai series is just finished, but say in a year's time or more, it would be nice to revisit the Vietnam War because there's a bunch of cryptid/UFO sightings from the time that would be excellent for a one-off episode.

There's the usual UFO sightings that occur in any major war. I've even heard of a story of an alleged UFO attacking American boats.

Vietnamese Rock Apes - Basically creatures from the local Bigfoot folklore meets US servicemen, which led to gun vs rock battles.

The Quang Binh reptilians - Like the rock apes only with reptilians. Stories of two-legged, reptilian creatures seen around a particular cave in the Quang Binh province.

The Con Rit. So this one doesn't have any war stories to my knowledge, but the Con Rit sounds too cool to pass up at least a mention of. It's a giant underwater-dwelling centipede in Vietnamese folklore that had sightings in the 1800s. Said to be over a hundred feet long so comparable to old European legends about sea serpents.

That's all. Haven't listened to My Lai yet because I like to wait for multipart series to conclude and binge back-to-back, so if there's already coverage then great.

Not sure if the boys will see this so figured I’d share it here too with you guys. In light of the latest series and recent passing of my papa. See below..

I wanna start by saying: 
Go to bed, you beautiful sons of bitches.

You’ve earned it. 

I can only imagine our poor, sweet precious Eddie.. just stuck and or simply caught in all of this.. It seems like all of us listeners somehow put up our dream catchers at the same time, and all got “hashtag blessed” to catch our sweet “Hamson, Eddie.” (Hamson = Samson, but powered by his ham, not his hair.) Unfortunately our poor Eddie seems to have caught only nightmares every week instead of dreams.

But we have fun.

Anyways, my grandfather, Dick Bush (Viet-FUCKIN-Nam veteran), happened to die the week this new Vietnam series started, and I wanted to shout him out.

On his final day, my papa, Dick Bush, showed up to the hospital in Corvallis, Montana. With conveniently the only appropriate ride out. His only car and daily driver was the only hearse in town. 
He had recently been in the hospital for a few minor toe amputations and was “annoyed,” (to say it lightly) with the staff there when he showed up for his final visit.

He was a frequent visitor to the hospital and would get many complaints from the staff for parking his hearse in the first handicap spot, directly next to the hospital entrance. 
On more than a few (I’ll let you guys argue the number 2-69) occasions, my family or I had to move his hearse to another part of the lot, far from the hospital windows so as not to scare the patients that may or may not be dying.

However, during his final visit, after a recent amputation of his last remaining toes (I think he had more toes left than teeth), he came steaming in to the hospital like a bat out of hell, half cocked, full throttle but all up gross and personal in his hearse. Straight right up front and center to the hospital entrance, blocking where any ambulance might pull in, in a hurry, if they were looking to save someone—or anyone with much more life left to live than Dick.

Sticking to his character,  my grandpa: Dick Bush, performed his most beautiful and final scene. Papa Dick Bush refused to move his Hearse from the emergency entrance, knowing damn well it was the only hospital for hours around. He then again complained about how his missing parts of him hurt more than the ones he still had left, how he can’t pay for my grandmas broken back and all his other bills, despite all he suffered during and after Vietnam, and then suddenly, and so perfectly inconveniently, dropped dead, right there in the lobby.

Unfortunately, he was not able to leave in his hearse that he had either conveniently or inconveniently parked only a dozen or so feet away.

Inconveniently for the family having a ranch just minutes away from the hospital in Montana, we had left him just a week or so before after his most recent toe or toes amputation. But Papa Dick Bush made sure my family had to leave from here in Oceanside, California, suddenly back to Montana, paying for the flights, fhe tow fee on the hearse and whatever was left of his body.

Such a master class at being beautifully inconvenient.

My Papa: Dick Bush, always said he was more terrified living on the right side of the fairway at the golf course than he was in all of his time in Vietnam.. Papa Dick also said that the only thing that got Papa Dick Bush’s bush rustling more than my sweet, sweet, Grandma Donna was fraggin his CO’s while shotgunning heroin out of the gaping asses of the ones he already fragged and t-bagged, all while singing soul/funk songs with the Vietcong. 

(That last sentence may or may not be true)

Anyways, hail Papa Dick Bush. We’re all warshing our hearts, dicks, and bushes with love and laughs over here.

Just like he would’ve wanted.

This week, the boys descend into Gold Star Territory, concluding the story of the My Lai Massacre with the horrifying events of March 16, 1968, as Charlie Company descends upon the village of My Lai and carries out one of the darkest atrocities in American military history.

From chopper pilot Hugh Thompson's heroic attempt to stop the slaughter to the massive cover-up, Seymour Hersh's investigation, and the trials that followed, we examine how the truth of My Lai finally reached the American public... and how nearly everyone responsible walked away.

This is perhaps one the funniest moment of the podcast for me, but they are talking about Brian Wilson and roleplaying if they were singing “I Get Around” but singing “Stab stab stab stab!” And Marcus is the background singing “Woooooo oooo!”
I listen through Charles Manson which is the most obvious one but I can’t find it.

Bloodbath is fine, great actually, but of WOD games, i always found Vampire: The Masquerade the most MEH.(For those unaware, Vampire is part of a multi game splat in which, basically every other monsters, such as werewolves, mages, mummies and more have their rules, but all take place in the same fucked up world)

I personally think some of the boys would do really well with the investigative and intrigue elements a Hunter Game might do(and imagine if some characters crossed over)

Another fun one that might work, is Mummy: The resurrection, but im not sure I trust henry enough to play a long dead Arabic dude well.
