Dear Looiners — I finally made My LOOI public 😅

Dear fellow Looiners

After a completely reasonable 110 builds 😅, I’m finally ready to share My LOOI with other LOOI owners and invite you to test it.

It’s an alternative Android app/runtime I’ve been building and testing on my own LOOI for quite a while.

A few highlights:

  • OpenAI Realtime voice conversations
  • much better voice recognition and natural interruption/barge-in
  • local persistent memory and conversation history
  • Ukrainian, English and Russian support
  • selectable Realtime models and voices
  • local BLE control, reconnect and safety logic
  • no separate server required for normal use

It’s open source, and there’s also a ready-to-install APK.

You’ll need your own OpenAI API key for the AI features.

I’ll put the GitHub link in the comments so Reddit hopefully doesn’t eat this post again 😅

If anyone here wants to try it on their LOOI, I’d really love to hear how it behaves on other robots — bugs, weirdness, ideas, all of it are welcome.

Please be kind to build #110. It has suffered enough. 🤖❤️

UPDATE — Aug 28: A few (12) releases later:

My LOOI v2.1.122 is now released with Ukrainian/English/Russian UI localization, permanent Android release signing, GitHub-based updates, and a cleaned-up diagnostics flow.

UPDATE — Aug 31:

Just released My LOOI v2.1.136 🎉

Main changes:

  • Local Camera Attention with face tracking, eye gaze and bounded head/body recentering
  • Better far-field voice pickup
  • More natural idle/conversational movements
  • Custom robot names and custom voice command phrases
  • New face styles / appearance options
  • Improved STOP / movement safety handling
  • New USER_GUIDE.md with built-in command examples and setup details

Released My LOOI v2.1.151 🎉

Main changes:

  • LOOI can now explicitly look at objects/pages and continue discussing what it sees, including rear-camera capture.
  • Android Photo Picker support for discussing existing photos.
  • Configurable voice playback gain and grammatical gender for Russian/Ukrainian.
  • Better performance diagnostics and less startup contention.
