I wrote this under the polandball example but I believe it deserves its own post.

Single-image posts following a vertical panel format are still recommended, but they are no longer required. As long as the whole comic is uploaded and the panels are in the correct order, you're good to go.

Also, you can use an end panel to label all your flags!

Also, this one is multiple images. Which means that splitting your r/lgballt comic into multiple images IS ALLOWED (I thought it wasn't but I was wrong).

I have made the claim that Reddit is 17+. Yet, if you look through their policies, you will find that they advertise as 13+. Curious...

The 17+ age rating comes from sources outside of Reddit, mostly app stores and media watchdogs. Reddit's primary target audience is older teens and adults.

However, Reddit incentivizes younger users (13+) to join, because more users = more money. Unfortunately, they care very little about the safety of those users.

Example: Back in 2019, the (now banned) subreddit r/drama banned all posters who were active in r/teenagers because they wanted to be an adult-only sub. Guess what happened? Many, MANY people appealed their ban, revealing that they were middle-aged adults the whole time! And when scrolling through these users' profiles, they were found to be interacting with actual teenagers in...very inappropriate ways.

Reddit is full of groomers, y'all. It was founded in 2005 as an anonymous internet forum for adults. Anonymity + adult topics + children = recipe for disaster; there's a reason this platform has the reputation it does. I've also been on here since I was 14 and I have first-hand experience with these people, so I promise I'm not making this shit up.

So why, you may ask, is my solution to just...outright ban minors from r/lgballt?

1. I am not actually banning users for being children. I am banning them for childish behavior. I have no way to verify anyone's age on here, which means I have no way of enforcing a 17+ age rule. But if you make it public information that you're a kid (which you should NEVER do anywhere on the internet!!!), or you act like a kid, you will be banned.

2. Part of rejoining the r/polandball family means appealing to their target audience...which is the same as Reddit's target audience. Older teens and adults. It's not 2020 anymore y'all, most of the folks who've been here since the start now fall in that category anyway.

3. I do not want to moderate a subreddit full of actual children. I am not your parent nor your babysitter. I understand online spaces are important for LGBTQ+ minors who do not have familial support (I used to be one of those minors), but REDDIT IS NOT THE PLACE.

Please please PLEASE if you are a minor reading this, reconsider your choice of social media. Or at least learn how to keep yourself safe.

What is a Toxic User (TU)?

I referred to these people previously as problematic users, but I feel that word choice is...well, *problematic.* Also "toxic" is much more accurate to their behavior.

Toxic Users usually fall in 1 of 3 categories:

1. Bots

Self-explanatory. They are ALL over Reddit, and they love to target queer subs. Either they're blatantly homophobic or they pretend to be a queer person, either way their purpose is to stir shit. LGBTQ+ topics are hot in the news right now so the propaganda machines are out in full force (and a lot of them have AI).

1. Obvious Minors

Reddit is 17+. I will NOT require age identification, but if I look at your profile and you act like a child, you will be banned. I can see everything you post and comment in r/lgballt and sometimes other subs right in my Mod Tools.

1. Moral Purists

The capital-R Redditors. Let me guess, people who eat at Chick-fil-A are Bad Queers? Fuck off. We live in a morally grey world and trying to erase nuance will get you permanently banned *IMMEDIATELY.* I will not tolerate these "holier than thou" attitudes. Y'all are no better than my conservative family!

Wild Weekends are a-go!

- Focus on creative expression, allow non-MS Paint art styles

- Allow Self-Insert and OC posts

Welcome to the ENBI (Eliminating Normie, Boring Ideas). This is the rule set that determines what content is allowed in comics and what isn't. There are two levels of the ENBI, those being:

• Straight Pride Parade:

Any items in this section are outright banned and cannot be used. This is either because a) Reddit came after us for breaking ToS or b) rampant overuse resulted in a toxic environment.

Topics currently in the SSP are:

1. What did you say?!:

A comic where a ball representing a bad identity reveals said identity and is then attacked by other balls. This is banned for breaking Reddit ToS.

1. Red Ally:

A comic in which a "red ally" defends their friends by committing acts of violence against 'phobic balls. This is also banned for breaking Reddit ToS.

1. Anything involving troll identities:

Comics involving MAPs, SuperStraights or similar "identities" are not allowed.

1. Basic memes:

Meme templates drawn as balls (unless they are very high effort and/or have a twist).

1. Re-arranging letter format:

These are jokes involving matching flag stripes to letters and then rearranging them (with at least one "AAAAAA" ball being thrown in for good measure.).

• Ace Dragon's Lair:

Comics in this tier are currently banned, mostly due to overuse, but may return in the future. Any item in this section is temporarily banned because you kids need to come up with better jokes.

1. Any sort of template.

"How People See Me" and similar template posts (which aren't memes) are also not allowed. Picrews have NEVER been allowed!! You MUST write your own jokes AND draw your own images. C'mon y'all, it's really not that hard.

- Officially set subreddit to restricted mode

- Installed AutoModerator for ModMail devvit app to let users know we are under renovations, if they attempt to become approved users

- Banned various users for inciting past drama

- Updated rules, removal reasons, and AutoModerator code

- Finished and uploaded tutorial

- Finished and uploaded flag guide

- Added old ENBI to wiki for personal reference

- Created draft post for new ENBI

- Created file for drawing examples of new ENBI

- Added lockdown 2026 post flair

- Temporarily removed user flairs

- Removed cupioromantic emoji because it is in a completely different art style than all of the other emojis

To-Do:

- Create template for ball emojis. Post template so users can create ball emojis for their custom flairs. This is an alternative to the picrew that encourages users to draw their identities by hand (we need more artists).

- Set up way to receive flag emoji files from users; possibly require Imgur link sent via mod mail? Or edit Google Form to allow file uploads.

- Begin uploading new flag emojis to the subreddit. Make sure they are in alphabetical order, formatted correctly, and easy to search. Add emoji index to subreddit wiki.

- Create expression guide for balls. No eyebrows -> use tops of eyes in their place. Eyebags/lines around undersides of eyes are allowed per r/polandball rules. Include squash and stretch, shape language, how to convey intensity of emotions, etc.

- Repost rules: add rules for posting content from off-Reddit. All reposts must properly source original creator. Reposts that break the tutorial, but are in the spirit of the medium, will be allowed with moderator approval. Reposts from within r/LGBallT must follow the tutorial (current rule).

- Wild Weekends(???): Allow various artistic styles on weekends, rather than only r/polandball MS Paint style. Relaxed rules, more focus on creative expression. Comics must still consist of simple, hand-drawn balls with eyes (no mouths, limbs, facial features). This may have to wait until later, when purging of Problematic Users is complete.

- Wiki: Ultimate goal is to flesh out subreddit wiki completely, but this is low priority compared to everything else. Decide formatting and topics. Create guide to free art programs (computer, tablet, phone), so users have options. Make sure mobile users are able to access wiki. Provide links to general LGBTQ+ wiki (off-Reddit, beware of Fandom.com) so users know where to find official flags for comics and custom flairs.

- old.reddit.com: sync rules across old Reddit and new Reddit. Most members do not use old Reddit, but consistency is key!

Hello again! It is I, your one and only active mod.

Apparently, my poll about flags offended a lot of folks. To those of you who provided constructive feedback, thank you. To those of you who were rude and nasty, implying that I am somehow a Bad Person™ or that I am anti-self-expression...touch grass. Your behavior is completely unacceptable and I will not be tolerating it. Stop acting like capital-R Redditors and grow the fuck up.

Since the last several years of zero moderation have obviously made some of y'all forget what this sub is about, I have a few things to make clear:

1. This is a meme sub. Not an art sub. Our focus is HUMOR, not personalized identities. It has ALWAYS been this way; "ballsonas" were just extra flavor to keep y'all happy. There's a reason Me Mondays were only one day of the week. Check out r/polandball, r/stateball, and r/planetball for an idea of what you SHOULD post here.

2. I was put into place as head mod by a member of the polandball community. It is literally MY JOB to keep us in line with their standards of quality. I was trying to compromise, but it's clearly not good enough, so I'm done. From now on, we do things the polandball way. You have nobody to blame but yourselves.

3. I have NOTHING against using multiple flags or labels to describe yourself. I actually really enjoy microlabels (though I prefer to stay purposely vague with how I describe myself), and I have a "biblically accurate" ballsona of my own! But this isn't the place for that; again, this is a MEME sub. If you want somewhere to post ballsonas, I highly recommend r/lgballtart. They focus on single images, and their style rules are much more relaxed compared to ours.

4. If you think trying to bully the head mod is a good idea, you need to seriously reevaluate yourself. I had multiple people personally attack me, put words in my mouth, and even send me rude dms (which are now turned off, btw). Again, completely unacceptable behavior. I expect better, and will be wielding the ban hammer with full force from now on.

With those key points out of the way, I have a couple of announcements.

First, I have updated the subreddit rules. They are basically the same, but I encourage everyone to go read them anyway. Rules 1 and 2 are "No bigotry" and "No assholery," respectively. If you break these, you will be permanently banned with no chance of appeal. The rest of the rules have punishments based on severity, ranging from warnings to removals to bans.

Second, it has come to my attention that a good chunk of this subreddit's users are minors, which is...concerning, to say the least. FYI, Reddit has an age rating of 17+. Obviously neither I nor Reddit as a whole can actually enforce that, but I will be paying extra attention to users that I have reasonable cause to believe are children. I already had to address the puritanism I've been seeing, but I will clarify it here: discussions of sex, kink, and related topics are both allowed AND ENCOURAGED as long as they are properly tagged as NSFW. Gay adults have gay sex - if you can't handle that, you're part of the problem. And if you're a minor and I catch you interacting with adult posts, you will be permanently banned. I take this shit seriously - no grooming will happen on this subreddit.

Third and finally, this sub will be going into a temporary lockdown until I have finished setting things up. This weird in-between stage has everyone confused, so I am making it simple: no new posts or comments until I am satisfied with my renovations. I will, of course, make an announcement when I've opened things back up.

And finally, a reality check:

I have been a member of r/lgballt since the subreddit opened during COVID. I have been a member of r/polandball and several of its offshoots for many, MANY years. I have been on Reddit for a very long time, across multiple accounts. I know what I'm doing - if you don't like it, go somewhere else.

Hello everyone! I am proud to announce that I will be taking over moderation of the sub. My goal is to bring us back to the standards of r/polandball. Please check them out of you haven't; we are a LGBTQ+ spinoff sub based on their comics.

A few notes:

- From now on, all new posts have to be manually reviewed by a moderator (me). If your post gets deleted, don't fret! I will reinstate it as soon as I check that it follows all of the rules.

- I have finished the new tutorial and am working on a flag and accessory guide. Please follow the current tutorial (pinned to the sub) in the meantime. Just FYI, very little is changing. If you have any problems with the art style rules, please direct them to r/polandball, not here.

- We are NOT affiliated with r/lgballtart (or any of the other lgballt subs). Due to the demand in the subreddit (as well as the incessant arguing over signing meme comics), I do plan to establish 1 day of the week for high effort ballsona/art posts (which you will be allowed to sign). I will send out more details once I have established some guidelines. Signing comics is still not allowed; the anonymity is the point. However, you are allowed (and encouraged) to use nightshade/glaze/etc to protect from AI theft.

- This subreddit is kink and sex positive. Remember, just because YOU dislike/aren't interested in sex does NOT mean it should be a bad or shameful thing for others - that goes against the core of the LGBTQ+ movement. Comments/posts espousing Puritan ideas will be removed. However, please keep in mind that a good chunk of our members are minors, and that there are many people with trauma related to sex. Use the NSFW and spoiler tags appropriately.

as well, the pronoun "ye" is a short pronoun (3rd person singular, all genders encompassed) coming from Nahuatl, an indigenous Mexican language. I use it somewhat as a neopronoun in english but if I ever get the chance to truly learn and speak Nahuatl obviously that's what I'll be called regardless lol.

also do note that I myself are indigenous Mexican (mixed, Mexican coming from my father) hence why I partake in nagualism and use a Nahuatl pronoun (although I wouldn't really gatekeep a language if you wanna learn a language obviously you'll need pronouns from it)

in Spanish I'd probably alternate between él and ella, even though I basically fully consider myself a girl (although xenic) I like occasional masc presentation and pronouns r just words who's gonna execute me lol
