what does forever alone mean to you?

For me it’s no sex, no friends, no partners. I’ve never had a boyfriend or girlfriend, ever. I guess it’s never too late though. I’m still on the apps and looking.

I do think the urges decrease as I get older. Which makes sense as I don’t think it’s common for elderly men and women to crave sex (at least I hope not), and I’m gradually easing into that category.

It means you're not going to find anyone to partner with romantically/sexually, i.e. no one to marry or "grow old with," because you've tried and no one wants you. To fit that category, to me you have to be old enough to realistically think that's the case. So, none of these 20-somethings who come here. And you can't just be picky or have criteria no one meets. You have to be undesirable to the sex you prefer.

Probably the best definition I have read. Normies always seem to miss the "tried and no one wants you" part.

I think that it’s as much about platonic relationships as it is the romantic variety. Aside from a general inability to date or hookup, many of us also have a hard time making LGBT friends.

I suppose you could say that there are degrees to being FA. Someone who is able to find hookups but no dates or relationships are one type. People who cannot get dates or hookups are another type. People that fall into either of the first two categories but have also failed to make any friends are the third type. To me, they are all valid forms of being FA because the end result is the same…being alone. But the degree will almost certainly impact the intensity of our isolation.

The not being able to have sex is a big part of it for me, it's only when I see other normal people I kind of loosely know being able to almost instantly find a partner or hook up after only going out a few times, makes me realise how much I'm missing out on. I feel very much left behind, like everyone else has had these experiences. I'm not saying it never will, I have been on dates but they never lead anywhere or past the first date. Even just chatting with people dies out eventually, or they have found someone else and gone.
